Nightfall hit in a matter of seconds. I showered while Theodor tweaked with the doll inspecting it. "It's so ugly." I said drying my hair. Theodor lifted his glasses still looking at the doll. "They dipped it in some sort of acid. It burned the doll completely." He walked over to the coffin he gave us to put all the heirlooms in and placed the doll inside locking it after. He took off his gloves and threw them away. "Guys come on! What are you doing here?!" Jack stormed in the front door. "Um we're chilling in our hotel room?" Theodor said in a duh? tone. " We're in Canton! Let's walk around and explore the city!"
It was pretty warm here. "ooooh lets go get ice cream!" I pointed at the ice cream shop. We got in line and looked at all the flavors. "What would you like sweetheart?" The lady asked. "Strawberry please." She put the ice cream in a cone and handed it to me. "Vanilla in a cup for me." Jack put his hands in his pockets. "I'll just get Chocolate." Theodor pointed at the cone. Jack decided to pay for all of us and we continued our walk around the city. We sat in a bench in front of a skyscraper that changed colors. I looked at how tall it was. "Jack," He shoved a spoonful of ice cream in his mouth. "Have you ever tried flying?" He looked at me and then shook his head. "Maybe that's why you haven't gotten your wings.. You haven't tried." He shrugged his shoulders. "I'm..scared." He twirled the spoon in his ice cream. "Don't worry I'll be with you." I grabbed his hand. He smiled and suddenly started clenching his fist. He bit his bottom lip and flinched in pain. "Jack?" Theodor asked. "Fuck, nah I'm alright. My chest hurts a little that's all." He flinched again squeezing my hand tightly. "We need to get back to the hotel." Theodor said. "I'll call a cab."
"Hey! We need a ride!" I jumped up and down waving my hands at the yellow taxis. One cab stopped in front of us and Theodor and I helped carry Jack to the cab. "Uh you guys want me to take you to the hospital?" The taxi driver said. "no!" Theodor and I yelled in unison. "Take us to Ludwind Hotel." The guy drove fast. Jack sat between Theodor and I. "Ah fuck." Jack said under his breath.
When we got to the hotel we raced to the elevator. I clicked the 3rd floor and just before the doors closed an old man held the doors open with his hand. "I'm sorry my wife Eleanor is on her way." He smiled. 2 minutes later we were waiting for the old lady to get in the elevator. She smiled at us and made her way in with a cain. "Oh wait Marty did I leave my purse?" Marty held the door open again. "No sweetie its in your hand." Marty said. "Um don't mind us guys but we're in a hurry." Theodor said with Jack's arm around his neck. "Oh we're sorry, we just got back from Olive Garden and you know there-" "What floor?" I interrupted. "5 please." The old lady continued her story. "and then there was this man, tell them Marty." She hit her husband with the back of her hand in the stomach. "Yeah well the man he-" "sorry guys but this is our stop, I'd like to hear the rest of your story next time." Theodor ran out of the elevator.
I opened the hotel door and rushed Jack inside. Theodor threw him over the bed and got the first aid kit. "Where does it hurt?" Theodor asked. "On my chest." Jack bit his bottom lip. Theodor pulled his shirt off and the rose tattoo he had was glowing again and bleeding. I gasped. "Carlie don't look!" Jack yelled at me. "But Jack-" "Carlie go away!" He chewed on his bottom lip again. "Its better if you go." Theodor looked at me. I ran out of the room and paced back and forth in the hallway.
~Jack's pov~
"What the fuck is happening to me Theodor?!" I looked at my tattoo is hurt just as much as it looked. "I'll explain to you now." He pat a wet healing bandage on my chest. "OW FUCK!" I yelled out in pain. "Sorry but I need to disinfect." Theodor lifted his glasses. He grabbed a little tube with cream and put a little in his finger smearing it all around my tattoo. It felt icy and and warm. He blew on it and after wrapped bandages under my left arm and over my right arm, covering the tattoo. "Try not to make any sudden movements for a couple minutes." He sat next to me and smiled. "What?" I looked at him. "You know.." He punched my arm gently. "No I don't? Why does this stupid tattoo glow and sting?" I asked trying to sit up on the bed. "Because of Carlie.." I looked at him confused. "What does Carlie have to do with anything?" I looked at Theodor intently. "Because you like her! An angel can't love a mortal so that's why your tattoo burns. It's like an angel's birthmark. It's next to your heart did you ever notice?" It all made sense now. "Angels can't be with humans so as 'punishment' Your tattoo starts to burn so you forget about love. Cruel but true." I looked at the bandages. That's why yesterday morning while I was sleeping my tattoo started burning. I had a dream about Carlie and then she touched my tattoo which caused me greater pain! And a couple minutes ago when she grabbed my hand. I was so intrigued by her gorgeous eyes that just cast a spell on me and she's just perfect. And- and- "ouch!" My tattoo burned again. "You'll learn to live with the pain. Can I call Carlie back in?" I paused for a second. "I don't want her to know about this.. About why my tattoo glows." Theodor rolled his eyes. "Can I tell her it's an angel thing?" Theodor asked and I nodded.~Carlie's pov~
What the hell is going on in there, its been 15 minutes. I heard the door open and I stood up from the floor. Theodor opened the door and I stormed in to see Jack. He had bandages around his chest. "How do you feel?" I sat next to him. He nodded. "Better." "That's good." I combed his hair with my fingers getting his hair out of his face. I noticed his atoms apple bounced up and down in his throat. He looked tense. "Are you alright?" I asked looking at his gorgeous eyes. He chuckled making the tension fade away. He broke eye contact from me. "Yeah I'm fine. Just tired thats all." He slid under the covers and rolled over to the side, his back facing me. "oh well alright. Goodnight then.." I went over to my room. I still think he's acting a little weird.
