"Alright passengers, please buckle your seat belts we'll be arriving to New York in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Thank you for flying with us!" Jack groaned. "an hour and a half?! I'll never make it. I hate airplanes." He panted heavily. "Babe calm down, an hour is nothing. Watch we'll get there before you know it." He nodded looking out the window. "How ironic you being an angel and all and you're terrified of airplanes." I laughed. He rolled his eyes. I leaned my head against the seat, and then I started thinking. "What are you gonna do with your car?" I looked at him. "My what?- Oh yeah, that car was a rental." I opened my mouth in shock. "Eric destroyed it all and I'm not gonna return it like that to the rental place. It'll cost a fortune! I mean the car doesn't even have a windshield anymore, besides I won't be needing it any longer." The plane started taking off. "Oh fuck fuck fuck, why is it going so fast?!" I laughed and gripped his hand. He calmed down a bit but remained frantic and paranoid throughout the whole flight.-When we arrived at Brooklyn, Jack took a deep breath of fresh air. Then a guy riding a bike interrupted his peaceful moment by ringing his bell and cursing at us for being in the way. "Ey are you gonna get out of the fuckin' way toots or ya-" Jack pulled me aside. "Ey thats my fuckin girlfriend asshole!" Jack yelled at the man who kept riding his bike. Throughout the whole argument Brooklyn accents were spat left and right. The man flicked Jack off. While Jack just kept staring at the man ride off into the distance. With an angry look on Jack's face all he said was, "I fucking love this place." I laughed wrapping my arms around Jack's waist while he put his arm over my shoulder. Jack called a cab and gave the man directions.-
We stood in front of a big building. "This place can't be it," I said looking at the sign over the door. "Its here, I swear its here, I feel it." Jack crumbled the paper into his pocket. "Jack this is a retirement home?" He shrugged his shoulders opening the door. "Maybe he lives here with a grandpa?" Jack walked up to the man behind the counter. "Uh, hey, I'm looking for Toby Cobain?" The man lifted his head from the computer. "Your name?" "Jack, Jack Cobain," The man raised his eyebrow. "What relation do you have with our patient?" "I'm his brother." He slightly chuckled shaking his head. "Follow me.."
The man walked us down the hallway and into the main room of the retirement home. Old people were scattered all over the place. A band was playing jazz music, but I bet half of them weren't able to hear it. "There he is." The man pointed at an elder man in a wheel chair with a quilt over his lap. The little man looked to be in about his 90s. Jack slowly made his way towards the old man. "Um, hi, are you Toby Cobain." Jack said with his hands behind his back. "Yes thats me, who asks?" His voice was hoarse and low. Jack pulled up a chair beside Toby. "I- I'm your brother, Jack." Toby looked at Jack roughly, then his facial expression slowly started softening, then it hardened again. "Look kid, I don't know what joke you're trying to pull off here but its not funny. My brother Jack died when I was young-" Toby turned his wheel chair the other way. "No really its me, look," Jack showed his wrist tattoo that said 'together by heart' Toby went over the words with his index finger. "It can't be, the matching tattoo papa had. It's you, its really you, but how?! You died years ago, you died in 1927!" My eyes grew wide. I don't even want to know how old Jack is "supposed" to be. "I know, I know, and I can explain.." I took a seat beside Jack and heard the crazy stories Jack told Toby about the bizarre and dangerous adventures we'd been in and what heaven is like and all these amazing stories, Toby told Jack about the life back then and how everything was hectic once Jack died and how their parents were. Well they really bonded and got to spend time with each other. They hadn't seen each other in so long, I felt sad yet so happy for Jack.
"Well it was so awesome to see you Toby." Jack said standing up once visiting hours were up. Jack bent down and hugged him "I've missed you so much brother," I saw Toby's shaky old hands grip Jack's shirt. I swear I wanted to cry but I held them back. "You don't know how long I've waited to hear those words." Jack replied. "So I guess I'll see you soon Toby.." Jack backed away. Toby wiped a tear and nodded. "It was really nice meeting you." I said waving goodbye. "please, it was an honor to meet you Carlie." We left the retirement home and Jack turned around to look at it one last time. "I'm gonna miss that old guy." Jack sighed putting his arm around me. "I know babe, I know."-
The next day Jack and I were on the first flight to Tennessee. I've missed my home. "Ugh that was the longest flight ever. I'm so glad I'm done with airplanes. I'm gonna stick to long car rides." I rolled my eyes. He called Theodor to come pick us up and 12 minutes later the little blonde dork with glasses showed up in a mini van. I never understood why he had mini van if he lived by himself. But I'm just not even gonna question him. "Hey! I've missed you guys!" Theodor hugged Jack first and after squeezed me tightly. "So how did that conference with that guardian angel go?" I asked "Oh he was a tough nut to crack, the guardian said he was looking for the mortal he was suppose to protect- well end of story, he started crying on my shoulder and I was like, 'get off me i'm not your mother?!'-" Theo was cut off from his dramatic experience by Jack shouting, "a little help here?!" He was trying to put my luggage in the trunk, well it looked more like my luggage was putting him in the trunk. "Jeez what do you carry in here Carlie?!" I laughed helping Jack and Theo out.
