My vision got blurry and the pressure was on. I squeezed Jack tighter. "You can open your eyes now.." I opened my left eye and noticed we were in the museum and I was also clenching Jack's shirt in my hand. "sorry," I pat his shirt over the spot I left wrinkled. "You good?" He said as I stumbled backwards. "Yeah, just a bit light headed." I said. "Alright we have to find the camera room."
I followed Jack as he ran up and down the stairs looking for the camera room. "We'll never find it like this. Check if the pamphlet says anything." I pointed at his pocket. He took out the crumbled up piece of paper. "We can go check customer service?" I nodded sarcastically. "Yeah! And we should go ask the ladies that work in the front desk at this hours if they'll tell us, two burglars, where the camera room is!" I put my hands to my hips when the act was over. " You know I don't appreciate the sarcasm Ms.Maine, maybe there might be a map of where everything is, it doesn't hurt to check." I sighed, "fine."
"Ha! I found it!" Jack said while I looked through papers. I turned to look at Jack as he stood in front of a door that said. 'SECURITY' I sprinted towards him as he jiggled the door knob violently trying to get it to open. "Stand back, I'm gonna kick the door open." I stepped back and so did Jack. He rushed forward and aggressively kicked the door. The sound of wood cracking popped. The door swung open revealing monitors, buttons, cables,
cameras and more. "You stay here and make sure I cut the cameras. I'll call you." I nodded and sat down in front of about 20 small screens monitoring the area. Before he left he grabbed a metal bar leaning against the wall. "I'll be right back." A couple minutes later my phone rang and I saw Jack in one of the small screens. "go," I said and watched him hang up. He swung the metal bar and the screen went black. He called back. "done?" "done." He did the same steps all around the museum until all the cameras were off. I pulled out the memory of the cameras from the monitor. We cant leave any trace behind.I was out of breath by the time we got to the crown while Jack was still up and running. He pulled out a tool and started unscrewing the screws that attached the glass case from the wooden podium. 4 minutes later the crown was in our hands. "lets go," I said rushing towards the exit. "Wait, I have a decoy." He said pulling a plastic crown from his bag. "When did you get that?" He smiled placing the cheap faulty object on the cushion. "I bought it this morning while you slept. Along with a gun. now that Eric is tagging along with us." He put the glass case back on. "You think they'll notice?" I said looking at the pink feathers sticking off the top of the crown. "nah," He shrugged his shoulders and passed a T-shirt around everywhere we've been to not leave any finger prints. That same night we left towards Missouri.-
I looked at the crown over again. Its gorgeous. It was covered in real diamond rhinestones and had emerald and ruby jewels in the center. "It sure is beautiful huh?" Jack looked over at my lap. "yeah." I said passing my finger over the gems. "Who knew so much beauty could be so, evil." The sentence repeated over and over again in my head. I thought about Eric. All of a sudden my finger started burning. I never noticed I had it plunged into the sharp, pointy tip at the top of the crown. I sucked the blood out of my finger and put the crown in Jack's bag. Enough Salem shit for now.
