I ignored all of Eric's texts from yesterday. He was just pleading for me to forgive him and all this shit, whatever. I went to school and to all my classes and was able to avoid him through out the whole day. I haven't seen Jack either. After school I heard a familiar voice, "Carlie! We're going over Milo's house today. Wanna come?" Mia ran up to me with Drew beside her. "Nah I'll pass." Milo is the biggest pothead in the school and i'm not a fan. "You sure? We're gonna order Chinese food!" I shook my head. "Alright suit yourself." Mia and Drew ran in the other direction. I started walking towards the train station since we haven't been working on it in a while and I really wanna see how the painting is coming together.
As I started walking all the brushes fell from my book bag since the pockets were open. The necklace fell out. I looked at it and put it on, around my neck will be the safest place to keep it. As I started picking up the brushes I heard Eric. "Carlie! Wait!" I picked up everything quickly and ran, dropping the brushes again. "Fuck!" I cursed shoving everything in my bag at the speed of light. When he got to close I risked it and left the rest of the brushes and tried running for it. But he grabbed my wrist. "Carlie! Let me talk." I tried slipping away. "No I don't want to talk to you ever again!" The tears were starting to form. "Just listen to me. I was drunk and-" I cut him off. "I don't care LET GO!" I yelled at him. He pulled me closer to him almost breaking my wrist. Our faces were inches from touching. His jaw kept twitching and his nostrils were flared. "LET ME FUCKING TALK." He yelled at me. I cringed at the deep roar that came from him. I was intimidated but still shook my head trying to pull his fingers off my wrist which were now purple. He held my forearms and talked over me. "Eric let go you're hurting me!" His hands pressed harder and harder on my arms.
His voice got louder and I got more terrified after each word that slipped from his lips. Unexpectedly Eric was pulled back and given a blow to the face. It was Jack. "Ey when she says let go it means. Let go." They were both the same height and were all up in each others faces. When Eric let go of me I stumbled back since we were each tugging on either sides. I looked at my wrists and they were a pinkish red. I rubbed them and saw Eric push Jack. "Mind your own business creep." Jack pushed back harder. "I'm not gonna let you touch her like that." Eric went for a punch and laid it perfectly on Jack's cheekbone. Jack gave Eric an uppercut and used his angel abilities to move from one place to the other in seconds. After that, Jack blocked every punch that was coming his way. "Stop Jack!" I started coughing. My necklace was choking me. The more I tugged on it the tighter it got. "Jack-" My voice was barely heard. I stumbled back and fell on the ground dizzy and lightheaded. Jack was to busy fighting Eric and didn't notice I was seconds from suffocating. I tried gasping for air but it was as if my lungs wouldn't accept the oxygen. The last thing I remember was Jack running towards me.-
I woke up in a unfamiliar atmosphere. I was laying on a bed. It was pretty big. The room was a pale yellow color and the only light coming in was from a crack of sunlight slipping in between two blinds. There were clothes lying around the floor and an empty Marlboro box on a nightstand. I heard noise coming from the bathroom so I stood and took a peek through the ajar door. It was Jack..Shirtless. The heat rose to my cheeks. He was facing the mirror. He had a broad back that went slim towards his waist. His back had an abundance of tattoos practically covering up his skin. From the mirror I could see his perfect abs and pecs. He fiddled with a toothpick in his mouth and pulled a muscle-T over him. He combed his wet hair back and messed it up a little with his hands. He probably just got out of the shower. When I noticed he was almost finished I ran back to the bed and pretended I was asleep. I heard the bathroom lights flicker off. "I know you're awake." I peeked one eye open to look at him. He was smirking passing his fingers through his hair. "You caught me." I smiled. "Come." He said. I stood up and followed him into the bathroom. It smelled like a strong manly cologne. I loved it. "Look." He pointed at the mirror. I looked at my reflection and saw a purple thin bruise that ran from one side of my neck to the other. I touched it. "How did this happen?" I looked into his eyes. He dangled the necklace between his fingers. "Each heirloom has its own deadly spell. This necklace suffocates you when you get upset." He looked at it. "But, why?" I asked looking at my neck again. "The whole point of all this mumbo jumbo is to have the person killed. They feed off of death." I gulped hard. "It's better if I keep this." He put the necklace in a bag and put that bag in his backpack. "When summer comes we'll go hunting the other heirlooms." I nodded. "So what happened with Eric?" I asked. "I actually told him I was your new boyfriend." He smiled mischievously. "You what?!" I grinned. He nodded. "Yeah now he can't mess with ma girly anymore." He elbowed my arm softly, winking. I rolled my eyes. "Nice one Jack."
