Warnings: Blood

————————————————————————————
I wasn't expecting Dainsleif to leave in such a rush after I told him that information about the wolf attack. I finished eating and began to help Adelinde clean up. She kept telling me to go sit down rather than helping her. I reassured her that I was feeling better and that I could help her clean up. I grabbed the two plates and stacked them. I took them to the kitchen to give to the other cleaning staff. Once I came back out, Adelinde had mostly everything else cleaned up. She is our most efficient maid. Then again, she has been here the longest.

"Go sit down Diluc." She instructed, "I'll be over to check your injuries in a moment." I nodded and went to sit down on one of the couches by the window. I gently rested my crutch on the wall next to me and waited for Adelinde. Once she came out of the kitchen area she left to grab new bandages and medicine. It didn't take her long to return.

"Alright, I'll check your leg first." She kneeled down to fold up my pant leg and carefully unwrap the bandage.

"Ah, Master Diluc, you'll be happy to know that this one is looking much better. I think a week or so with this medicine will do it well."

"That is great news." I thought that injury was much more severe. I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought. She began putting the medicine on it and rolled back down my pant leg. She stood up and sat on the couch to treat my arm injury.

"This one is a bit farther off since it was worse." I nodded, "have you tried to walk without the crutch recently?" she asked,

"No."

"Nervous?"

"I don't think so. I'm not sure why I won't try and walk. My leg surely isn't painful anymore."

"Master Diluc, if I may, could it be that you want Dainsleif to be there?" My heartbeat quickened. Is it that I want him there? After all, he was there to catch me when I first fell.

"I...I don't think that's it." I stuttered, she nodded with a smirk and continued to bandage my arm.

"All done. Is there anything else you need?" She asked,

"No, that's all for now."

"Alright. Take it easy now." She said as she stood up and left. I grabbed my crutch and carefully stood up. I thought that reading would be an effective way to pass the time till Dainsleif returned. I grabbed one of the books I had been reading currently and went over to a chair in front of the fireplace to sit down. The book I was reading was your average story about a commoner having Royal blood and rising back into their family. Or something like that. This one interested me most because even though the protagonist has the Royal blood. They still have to work and fight for their place. I like stories like this most because not everything gets handed to the protagonist. Sometimes all writers want to do is be done with their story or make the main character the most powerful person. It is the lazy way out in my opinion. Because of that I tend to gravitate away from them. It had been around 30 minutes into reading my book when I heard someone open the front door. Then there was a loud noise.

"Master Diluc!" I heard Adelinde cry out, I hurriedly grabbed my crutch and stood up. I hurried over to Adelinde. My heart stopped, the person that had collapsed on the ground, was Dainsleif. "He's badly injured!" She exclaimed, I threw my crutch down and kneeled next to Dainsleif.

"He's losing a lot of blood; we need to stop the bleeding quickly." Adelinde quickly got up and ran to find all the items we would need. I took a closer look at his injuries. He had a couple deep gashes in his left arm and one on his right. For some reason, his right arm wasn't bleeding but was still cut. What were you doing? He was barely breathing from the loss of blood. I heard Adelinde's quickened footsteps as she approached me.

"I think we'll need to get him upstairs and to the room you gave him." She said, I nodded.

"You get that side I'll get this side."

"Master Diluc, I don't think—" I cut her off,

"It's fine. Everyone else is in the other houses around the Winery. We are the only ones who can do this in time." She nodded and grabbed Dainsleif's left arm and I grabbed his right. When I stood up my injured leg started to hurt bad, but I ignored it. Together we both dragged him up the stairs and to the room.

"I'll open the door." Adelinde said, she opened the door and we both dragged Dainsleif into the room. Adelinde then began carefully removing his cape and shirt. I noticed that the right side of his body has the same weird black stuff that his arm has. What is that?

"Here, Master Diluc." She handed me a wet cloth,

"Thank you." I used the cloth to apply pressure and stop the bleeding,

"I'll go get the rest of the ointment and fresh clothes for him." I nodded and continued to stop the bleeding. The bleeding stopped and I grabbed another cloth to clean the wound. Besides the blood there seems to be some kind of purple liquid inside the wound. I made sure to thoroughly clean it out. Maybe this is what caused him to pass out. I went over to the other side of him and cleaned out the other. It had some of that purple liquid and I made sure to clean it out thoroughly as well. Weirdly enough, this wound wasn't bleeding. Adelinde came back in the room with clothes and ointment. "Here, put some of this on that arm and I'll get this side." I carefully spread the ointment all over the wound. Then I grabbed a bandage and began wrapping his arm. "Master Diluc, look. His breathing is stabilizing!" Adelinde exclaimed, I felt relieved. I took a deep breath and tears formed in my eyes. I finished wrapping his arm and Adelinde was just finishing up the second one. "Done." She stood up and walked over to grab the fresh clothes. "Would you like me to dress him now? Or leave them for when he wakes up?" she asked, I wiped the tears from my eyes,

"I think it may be best to wait for him to wake up. Might as well dress him with the shirt though." I said and felt heat rise to my cheeks. She nodded and took the shirt, and I helped her put it on. "Did Dainsleif ever tell you about his right arm? It's different from his other arm."

"No, he didn't. I didn't know it was something that is spread on his chest and neck." I paused, "It may be best for us not to speak of this. I don't think he wants many people knowing about whatever is going on with his right arm." I said,

"Of course. The secret is safe with me. Will you be alright Diluc?"

"Yes, I'll be ok. I'm just going to sit here for a bit." She nodded and began cleaning up the medical supplies we used. Once she left the room I pulled a chair closer to the bed. I grabbed a blanket and put it on top of him. I sat down on the chair and watched him for a bit. His chest rose up and down as he took breaths. His breathing had completely calmed, and he seemed alright. A part of me didn't want to leave him here alone. Maybe it was because he did the same for me. Or maybe it was because of something else. "Why did it have to be you? You really scared me...I thought you weren't going to make it." I paused, "what were you doing out there?" I said as if he was listening to me. Tears formed around my eyes once again. Even thought he is ok, all I can think about is my father's death. I blew out the candle that was lighting up the room. I started to get drowsy. I didn't want to fall asleep, but I couldn't fight it off for long. I rested my head on the side of the bed next to Dainsleif. Next thing I knew, I was fast asleep.
