I woke up shortly after I had fallen asleep. I guess I was so worried about Dainsleif that I can't even stay asleep. I lifted my head up from the mattress and checked on Dainsleif. He was still asleep, which wasn't all that surprising. He probably needed the rest. I looked outside the window that was in front of me. It was still dark out with the moon shining brightly through the drawn curtains. The night was peaceful. I looked over at Dainsleif once again, he had woken up and was looking around at his surroundings. "You're awake." I said with my arms folded, he didn't speak right away. I'm guessing he was still trying to take in everything. "You look like you've been through hell and back. How are you feeling?" I asked with a stern voice,

"I've felt worse." He said hoarsely, shortly after, he tried to sit up in the bed. I immediately stood up from my chair and gently pushed him back down.

"You shouldn't move. Could open a wound, isn't that what you said to me?" I said, he scoffed at my response.

"I'm fine." He assured,

"Sure, if 'fine' means passing out in my lobby." I said firmly, he looked away from me, "What were you doing? You left in such a hurry and came back looking ragged, not to mention, beaten up."

"I had a sudden commission come up and wanted to take care of it before the night's end. It didn't go quite as—"

"You're lying to me, aren't you? What were you fighting that had poisoned you, hm?" I cut him off, I calmed myself down, "You can tell me the truth. I won't tell anyone." I reassured him,

"I...was clearing out those wolves we had been talking about at dinner. I originally was looking for traces of the Abyss Order. Which became defending Wolvendom from a threat. Looks like I may have bit off more than I could chew." He explained,

"Clearly. Why didn't you talk to me about this? I could've helped you!" I exclaimed,

"You were injured! It wasn't supposed to go this way in the first place. I had also made a deal with Andrius. I only had two days, and this was the last, that's why I was in a hurry. I'm sorry." He apologized, the situation deescalated quite fast to where we were both silent.

"You made a deal with Andrius?" I asked, breaking the silence,

"I had no other choice. Andrius mistook me for a threat, so I had to prove to him that I wasn't. We ended up making a deal, if I could take out the Abyss wolves in two days' time then he would let me go and no longer consider me a threat. If I failed to do so then I would let him pass his judgement on me." He explained,

"You would let him pass his judgment on you?! You would've sacrificed yourself to him? Why—" I stopped myself, "Sorry." I felt like I was acting out of line. I didn't want to be yelling at him about things that have already occurred. Although, I still would have preferred if he had told me beforehand. He looked at me, his blue eyes staring into my own. I couldn't help but blush. His apologetically innocent face, kept me from being mad at him. He looked so adorable like this. "Why would Andrius have considered you a threat? That's not usually something that happens to everybody. The only other case I know was Aether which was strange as well. Andrius only attacks if threatened and/or challenged." I said,

"I'm not completely sure myself, I really wish I could tell you." He said sincerely,

"Next time, please, just ask me to help you. I don't want you getting hurt like that again." I pleaded, "The scariest part was you collapsing on the floor. I thought you were...forget it."

"I'm sorry, the only thing I could think of was to get back here." He paused, "it really was not supposed to turn out this way."

"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lashed out like that. It just was too familiar of a situation for me." Neither of us said a word. I suppose it was partly my fault. I wouldn't know how to respond to my own statement. "Ah, I should let you know that Adelinde was helping me with your injuries. We both noticed that the right side of your chest and all of your arm is...different." His eyes widened, "Oh, don't worry Adelinde is trustworthy. She won't say anything, and neither will I. I promise." I put my hand on top of his hand to reassure him, his hand startled a little but then relaxed. I stared into his eyes with a concerned look. He didn't look away or talk, his lips were slightly parted as he let out quickening breathes. He slowly interlocked his hand with mine. My heart skipped a beat as I felt his fingers finding their way into my hand. Time froze. It all felt ethereal. My heart wanted to be close to him. But my brain was telling me not to. I began to slowly move closer to Dainsleif, to where my knees were touching up against the side of the bed. I leaned in farther and put my hand on his cheek. He seemed surprised by my movements but then also began to replicate them. Our faces were so close, I could feel his warm breath on my face. I closed my eyes and pulled him into an embrace.
