Kaeya led me all the way out of the manor and out to the grapevines. He had insisted we go pick grapes like the "old times.""Kaeya you know all my workers picked the grapes for this season." I said,
"Well, maybe they missed some. You never know." He kneeled down and started looking through the grapevines. "I actually had a question for you Diluc."
"What is it?" I inquired,
"Do you plan on holding that yearly winter solstice dance this year? I think it would be quite fun." He suggested, I hadn't thought about it much as of late. I haven't had the time.
"I haven't decided yet."
"Ah, I was afraid you would say that. Just think about it will you? I think with all the new people you've met this year and of course your old friends would love to attend. We could even have it in the cathedral, since there aren't any other big spaces around Mondstadt." He suggested,
"Don't you have work to do?" I asked annoyedly,
"Diluc, you're just so persistent to get rid of me aren't you? All I wanted to do was catch up with you a bit."
"It would have been fine if you would have let me know beforehand. Today was—"
"What? Today was busy because all you need to do is get back to your boyfriend Dainsleif? You have no time for anyone anymore, hm?" Kaeya snapped,
"T-that's not what I said. Neither is Dainsleif my boyfriend."
"Sure. I don't think I've ever seen you care for someone like that since Aether came along. Or maybe when we used to be kids. But I suppose that doesn't matter anymore." Kaeya said angrily,
"Kaeya." I said firmly,
"I guess you got me all worked up." He sat down and leaned up against one of the wooden posts. I walked over to him and sat next to him.
"I'm sorry."
"Tch, that's the first." He scoffed,
"I didn't mean to act like I was in a rush. Or didn't want to see you. It is good to see you every once in a while, I guess I've just been a bit overwhelmed myself. Not to mention yesterday when Dainsleif came to me injured he collapsed on the ground. It just reminded me too much of when dad died. I may be a bit unstable at the moment, if that's the right way to explain my actions."
"I suppose I was acting a little out of line as well. Since you got injured, I guess I was just worried for you. Truly if Dainsleif hadn't have been there you could have died. That's why I've been coming by more frequently. I wanted to make sure you were doing alright. But since Dainsleif hasn't left your side and neither have you left his I guess I've been—" I cut him off,
"Jealous?" I asked, he laughed.
"Maybe. And a little shaken up from your injury. Let's just say you're not the only one who has been a little 'unstable.' Your injury also reminded me of dad's death."
"I see. I'm sorry Kaeya, I didn't know that's how you were feeling. I do plan on trying to be more careful in the future." He nodded,
"I highly doubt that."
"Well, I'll try. For your sake."
"And everybody else's?" He added,
"Yes, and everybody else's." I paused, "And Kaeya, no one could ever replace you as my brother. I hope you know that."
