Taehyung was back home and immediately called Jimin. it never took long for the older to answer the phone with,

"tae bear!"

"Jimin, i HAVE to tell you something" taehyung said and sat down on his couch. "you know about that day i feel off that cliff and magically didn't die"

"of course i do"

"Something did save me, it was something like a merman" Taehyung said, deciding not to say 'siren' it would definitely freak Jimin out. or he might not, he didn't know how he would react so he decided not to tell him.

"Wait, what"

"I went back to the cave a few times again and I saw him in the water, I spoke to him, he even said I was cute!" Taehyung was almost screaming at the phone from excitement that had not been released yet. He tried his best to stay calm around jungkook but right now when he was talking about it he began to freak out again over the whole fact that this really happened.

"How in the hell-" Jimin said. "Are you serious right now??? Have you really seen a merman? like a living being???"

"YES, that's what i'm telling you!"

"Oh my god Tae, I'm so jealous of you right now. You bet when i get back from my vacation you're going to tell me everything,"

"Of course I will, you better hurry back because I miss you a lot. it's lonely here"

"I know, I'm sorry. i really had to go out with yoongi and have some fun together"

"Jimin, you can do whatever you like. I didn't mean it like that, don't feel bad, "Taehyung chuckled. "enjoy your time, i know you have to work again when you get back so get enough rest there!"

"you're the bestest friend ever," Jimin said and this warmed Taehyung's heart, but it also made him miss his friend more. Lucky for him he had a new friend, a special friend named Jungkook.

speaking of Jungkook... could he even get on land or would they forever be meeting in that cave? Taehyung would wrinkle up if he had to spend days in water like that. He had heard of mermaids being able to stay on land for a bit. but sirens have been told to be unable to do that.

"yo, are you still there?"

"huh, oh yea sorry, i dozed of for a moment"

"how- you know what, you go to bed now. I can tell you've had enough excitement for today. don't forget to eat a good breakfast tomorrow."

"thanks chim"

"No problem, sleepwell!"

"you too"

The call ended and Taehyung walked to his window, looking into the city. in the distance he could see the sea, oh how he wished it was closer. especially now that he had a friendly creature over there. He wondered what he was doing right now...

All the way deep down in the sea Jungkook floated in the stream, staring up at the faint hint of moonlight coming from the surface above him. Another cold lonely night to get through. Maybe he should have never interacted with the human. maybe he should have never let him live... Jungkook looked at his tail where the wound was. it still hurts, the wound was long, but the most damage was on the back side, the side taehyung didn't see. There were gaps and torn scales that had bled and still stained the cracks between his scales a dark red color.

Maybe he shouldn't have lied...

it didn't matter anymore, the damage was already done.

All he can hope now is that the human does not run away from him. It was hard for him to be nice, it's in his nature to be a liar and deceive people. He was born to bring fear into those who fell for his charms. He really tried to go against his natural actions and be nice for a change. At first he tried to take a slow approach and just keep his distance, he knows if taehyung saw him he would scream and never come back. But jungkook grew tired of that quickly. Taehyung would find it out eventually anyway.
