𓆩♰𓆪 ┊"BEKS"

Rebekah couldn't deny that Aegon II was an adorable baby. Despite her wary relationship with Alicent, she never had a problem with her children with Viserys. Family meant the world to her, and seeing her nephew's gummy smile warmed her heart.

The baby let out a delighted noise and giggled as Rebekah bounced him on her knees. "My darling nephew, happy name-day! It seems you've missed me despite seeing you earlier this morning."

He reached out and grabbed her nose, uttering a word that surprised everyone present. "Beks!"

It was unexpected and heartwarming to hear Aegon's first word being his cousin Rebekah's name.

The maid who tried to take Aegon away made the boy squawk in protest, causing her to shrink back. Rebekah laughed and nodded reassuringly to the nursemaid. "He's fine right here."

Alicent smiled lightly at the scene, though a pang of sadness formed within her as she observed Rebekah's reluctance to engage in conversation despite being around her son.

She had tried to adjust to her married life, but it was challenging. Nobody saw her as Lady Alicent anymore; she was now Queen Consort and the second wife to Viserys Targaryen. Rhaenyra's disdain for her and Aegon was palpable. She no longer had proper conversations with her father, finding solace instead in Rebekah's company.

Her place in court had been secured the moment she birthed Aegon. A male heir meant everything for the Iron Throne, or so her father would say. Yet Alicent didn't care if her son was heir or not, because that title rightfully belonged to Rhaenyra. She would make a good queen, Alicent believed.

The relationship between Alicent and Viserys was complex, to say the least. While Viserys was not a terrible husband, he was haunted by the memory of his first wife, Aemma, whom he had murdered in his desperate quest for a son. This shadow cast a pall over their marriage, and Viserys's nightly calls for Aemma only served to deepen Alicent's sense of loneliness and neglect.
