Rebekah's brow furrowed in confusion as she asked, "What do you want?"

"To learn the ways of Dragonriders," came his reply with clear determination.

Rhaenyra was about to counter when the man did something neither royal expected—he knelt before them, his posture conveying both respect and humility. "And to serve the Queen!" he added, bowing his head.

Rebekah stared at his submission, stunned by the unexpected gesture. Her wariness remained, though, as a flood of emotions—hope, guilt, and sadness—washed over her. The sight of this man brought back memories she had long buried, including the haunting recollection of Laenor's death and the pain of losing Malyen, her Mal. The dragons—Helios, Syrax, and Seasmoke—grumbled softly, sensing the tension in the room.

With a sharp intake of breath, Rhaenyra was the first to move. She stepped forward, her gaze fixed on the kneeling man.

"Rhaenyra," Rebekah protested, following her but not reaching out. Their dragons followed protectively—Seasmoke roared in warning, a fierce guardian of his Queen.
