Good morning, mom," I said as I came downstairs for breakfast.

The rain had stopped, and the weather started to get better after four am. in the morning, and thus, the university was open.

"Good morning Amy, did you sleep well?" She smiled as she served me breakfast.

"Yes, mum, quite good," I replied as I started chewing on my food.

"Where is dad?" I asked as I sipped my coffee. He was nowhere to be seen.

"He has an emergency surgery, so he went earlier." She explained as she settled to eat. After a while, we finished, and I got up to leave.

"Amy, whose jacket is that?" My mum questioned as her eyes went on Shawn's jacket, which was in my hands.

"Mom, you forgot? This is the jacket of my professor, he lent it to me yesterday as I was feeling cold so I have to return it." I said as I attempted to leave.

"Amy, dear." My mum's voice tone changed to a little more serious as we made eye contact, her eyes full of love and concern and a tilt of seriousness as if what she was going to say wasn't meant to be taken lightly.

"I know you are quite grown up and are able to take your decisions by yourself, but please, Amy, know the limits between a professor and a student. Don't cross your limits because it is unethical." My mom said while maintaining eye contact.

The seriousness in her tone and eyes were still there. My mom was a person of ethics and principles. Perhaps that's why she was a successful doctor.

"Mom, what are you saying? He is just my fr. eh, professor, nothing else, and I already explained to you all how we got locked accidentally, and the phone rang it was absolutely not on purpose." I said, and my phone vibrated. It was Jenny's message.

I was about to refer Shawn as a friend to my mother but I knew she won't understand the term friend because she always states that there can't be friendship between a man and a woman, it eventually turns into love but I thought she was wrong but eventually deep inside I knew it was quite true because of my experiences with Christopher. But I was sure it was not the same between Shawn and me.

Jenny: Hey Amy, are you coming?

Me: Yes, see you in a while. xoxo.

Jenny: I am waiting for you, girl. Come asap.

"Amy, I am old enough to know a person's feelings only by seeing their faces and by what I saw yesterday, that man's care and feelings for you are more than just a professor and student bond. I don't know. He doesn't give me positive vibes." My mom said, and I nodded even if I didn't pay attention to a single word of hers as I was on my phone texting Jenny.

"Okay, mum, we will talk later, I need to rush," I said as I hugged her.

"Bye, take care," I said as I closed the door.

"Hello, Amy." Jenny shouted as I reached for my seat.

"I don't talk to backstabbers." I narrowed my eyes as I placed my bag and Shawn's jacket on the desk.

"What happened? What have I done?" She asked innocently.

"Ohh, you don't know, do you? Because of you, my mum started to have weird kinds of assumptions about me and Shawn." I said, pretending to be angry as I crossed my arms.

"Ohh, that, but it is true you didn't tell me Mr Carson was with you." That sheepish smile curled on her lips.

"Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered to rush there." She smirked.

"Shut up, there is nothing like that between us, and thank God I didn't tell you, because if you didn't know, you took like two hours, I can't imagine how many hours you would have taken if you knew." I jokingly hit her arm.

A few seconds later, Shawn entered the classroom, and we all greeted him.

He smiled softly as his eyes went on me. Then I noticed the band which I tied to him yesterday. It was still there, on the same hand. He didn't take it off.

For a few seconds, I felt proud and happy that he accepted me as his friend. The class went fine enough with Rachel trying hard every single time she got an opportunity to be in Shawn's good book.

"Amy, would you please tell me what happened yesterday and I..." Rain requested as I listened to her while Jenny was chewing on her food when suddenly Shawn came and cut her off.

"Hello Jennifer, Hello Rain." He greeted them. The cafeteria was quite empty, with only a few people around.

"Hello, Professor." The girls greeted him back as they looked at me confused. Seriously, every time he would come here, in the cafeteria, to talk. Couldn't he find a better place?

"Hello, Amelia." He smiled, waiting for me to answer before he continued.

"Hello, Shawn," I replied back, but that reply earned me a big confused look from both Jenny and Rain.

"Can I sit here?" He asked, and I nodded. I started having that deja vu feeling.

"Actually, I have something to give you." He said with a warm smile. Both the girls and I were puzzled. Something for me?

"Something for me? What?" I asked, still puzzled as his eyes met and locked mine. A few seconds later, he took out a small black box that had the logo of a swan on it.

"This is for you." He said as he opened the box. Inside the box lay a mesmerizing beaded baby pink bracelet with a small swan hanging effortlessly between the white pearls, and its eyes were of two diamonds.

It was absolutely beautiful and must be expensive also, but why was he giving this to me?

"No, I can't accept that, it is quite expensive, I can't take it. And why are you giving me such an expensive gift?" I asked as I exchanged a brief look with the girls.

"Please don't refuse, you gifted me such an amazing band, in return, I have to give you something, right? He said, and the look in his eyes was as if they were pleading with me to take it.

"No, that's not necessary, I don't gift to be gifted, and moreover, that band is nothing compared to this beautiful bracelet," I said as I pushed away lightly the box.

"No gift is pricey or cheap if given with heart, only the emotions count." He said as he looked away from me as if he was full of pain and wished to cry.

"I brought this for her, but destiny didn't give me the opportunity to give it to her. Till yesterday, I was angry with destiny, with god, but now I thought that perhaps this is destined to be yours. With all my heart, I am giving it to you. As a friend, please accept it. It would be a great honour." He concluded as our eyes met and locked again.

Those blue eyes, you could genuinely see the pain in it as he mentioned her. He really did love her.

"Please, Amy, don't break his heart. Don't break his heart." I could hear Rain murmuring.

"There you are." I extended my hand as I smiled. Both Jenny and Rain squealed as he made me wear it. The way they were squealing as if he made me wear the wedding ring.

"Thank you so much, it is beautiful," I said, and he smiled at me as he attempted to leave.

"Shawn, wait." I requested, and he halted.

"Your jacket," I said as I handed him his jacket.

" Thank you once again," I said.

"You are welcome, Amelia." He smiled before he went away.

"Ohhh, Hello Shawn.." Jenny mimicked, and I rolled my eyes.

"So, this is the magic of being stuck together in the library, huh, from Professor to Shawn and now this bracelet huh, come on, tell me the whole thing, now!" Jenny ordered jokingly.

"Yes, you have to explain to us the whole thing now, no excuse." Rain added.

"It's nothing like that girls, actually his girlfriend and I shared the same name and she is no more..." I narrated the whole thing to them, and the way they were listening to me was as if a grandmother was narrating a fairy tale to her grandchildren. With such interest.
