Aithan's point of view
"Is it happening for real?" I asked myself as I took Amelia's unresponsive body in my arms and made my way to the entrance of the hospital. The way from the parking lot to the entrance of the hospital was like an eternity.
Why us? Why her? Everything was going just fine. She was fine minutes ago. How could destiny play with us like this?
I pushed my emotions away and squeezed my eyes hard enough to let all those tears that were blurring my sight away. Once I arrived inside, her parents were already waiting with other doctors and a stretcher was ready for her.
"Put her down, hurry," Richards said and they hurried her to the Emergency room.
"We will cure her, son, don't worry, thank you for getting her just on time, courage.'' Elizabeth placed an assuring hand on my shoulder and went away.
The assurance she was giving me, maybe she needed it more. I couldn't imagine what she was going through, what her parents were going through.
I sat on the bench, waiting for them to come out. Soon came Jenny and Jeremy.
Without a word, Jeremy took me in a brotherly hug.
"She will be alright mate, don't worry." He said as he patted me on the shoulder. I was grateful for this hug. I really needed it.
We waited for at least one hour but still no sight of any doctor. Neither of her parents. Jenny went to inform but no response.
Finally, her parents came outside the room. We got up and joined them.
"Any good updates?" I asked as I crossed my fingers.
Richards and Elizabeth exchanged looks and Richards placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Son, Amelia's health is critical. Her case worsens as the right ventricle of her heart collapse. We would need a transplant immediately. Thank god she came here on time, if any minutes late, she wouldn't be here but is still critical. Right now she is on life support." He said. His eyes were blurry and seemed to break down at any moment as if he couldn't handle it anymore. Elizabeth was already crying. Jenny and Jeremy were standing, watching us.
I couldn't see them like that and I hugged them tightly. They patted my back. Minutes later we parted.
"But we have a donor, right? you said yesterday that every test is done and they are a perfect match. We can do it right now?" I asked and they looked at me desperately.
"They, they back out. The children have no objections to turning off the life support of their mother but the husband is adamant. He says that even if years have passed by, he still hopes that his wife will wake up." Richards said and I can hear the desperation and helplessness in his voice.
"But isn't there any other way? Another donor?" Jenny asked and Elizabeth shook her head.
Why was my life so cursed? Why? I couldn't do anything. I was that helpless.
Unable to bear it anymore, I punched that wall in front of me.
"Get a hold of yourself brother, I know it's difficult. I can't imagine what you are going through but you have to get a grip on yourself. Maybe if you can convince the husband." Jeremy said as he held me and I looked at him.
"Do you think I can convince the husband?" I looked at him, with a hope that rekindled.
"I'm sure you can, at least try, if you failed, never mind, at least you tried." He said and everyone nodded.
"Yes son, this is our last hope, you have to try but be quick, we don't have much time," Elizabeth said.
"Which hospital?" I asked.
