Months had passed by and the friendship between Shawn and I kept on budding but we preferred to stay away from each other in the university because Rachel 'heard rumors' that I was dating Shawn but I could understand that she made it up on her own.
She even reported the matter to the administration, taking statements from witnesses who were none other than her two friends, the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence.
Of course, as none of the other students testified against us and statements of close friends didn't count. Moreover, how would there be evidence of something that didn't exist in the first place?
So, to stay safe we preferred to ignore each other in the institute, nevertheless we did meet for coffee or a trip to the library as he loved reading too, of course, he would, after all, he was a literature's professor.
"I look ravishing," I said surprisingly as I admired my reflection in the mirror. The girl in the mirror was totally different but not bad, wearing a long, floaty black strapless gown which hugged my body perfectly. A touch of quite heavy makeup and straightened hair, all done by Angelina.
"Of course you do." She said as she took the pearl necklace on the table and made me wear it.
"You are ready now." She said satisfyingly as she adjusted my necklace which matched perfectly with the bracelet Shawn had given me. She knew it was given by Shawn. I never hide anything from her. She was curious to know him even despite telling her that he was only a friend.
"You look no less as well Angel, Eric would drool if he sees you." I complimented as I adjusted her dress. She opted for a short dress instead of long which was equally beautiful as mine.
"Thanks sister, yes he can drool over my selfies." She giggled. We were so close to each other even though we were poles apart, be it physically or mentally.
"Where are you, girls? We are getting late!" My dad shouted from downstairs. My dad was a very punctual man.
"Let's go before he leaves us." We giggled and went to join my dad downstairs.
"You both look amazing girls, I am proud that I make beautiful children." Dad complimented as he joked.
"Thanks, dad." We both laughed.
"I just wished mum would be here so that we could go together, as a family," I commented as we closed the main door and got in the car. Mum had an emergency at the hospital and she had to rush there, leaving us alone with dad to attend Jenny's birthday although my mother was the only best friend of Jenny's mother.
"Yes, I wanted too, but what to do, a job is a job," Dad said sadly and drove to Jenny's place. It was a full night and the moon was shining brightly in the sky.
We arrived at Jenny's place and the party was to be held in her garden which was enormous. I could already see the budding crowd. We got out of the car with her gifts.
"Hey, Richard." My dad took Jenny's father in a brotherly hug and they started talking.
"Excuse me, I will just go and meet Jenny if you don't mind?" I said as I gave my father the gifts to handle.
"Of course dear, go ahead, she is with her mother in her room, getting ready." He said and he resumed talking. Angelina also went to meet Jenny's brother.
"Jenny, happy birthday munchkin, finally you are officially twenty-two and you look gorgeous." I cheered as I hugged her. She was looking beautiful with her faded pink gown that flew flawlessly down.
"Hello Amelia, you are looking gorgeous sweetheart, you girls carry on, I will just go and check on the guests." Mrs Jones excused herself and went away.
