♡ ╰◟◞ ͜ ◟◞╯ . ☆This episode was more than just cute and filler... It's a really great episode in giving screentime to Mashiro, as she's clearly been in the background so far... I've been feeling a bit bad for Mashiro back there, but I'm glad that she's in the spotlight and builds her bond alongside Tsubasa. As far as I can tell, I really enjoyed that episode. Mashiro continues to show more about her views towards herself, just like what previously happened way back on Episode 4. She continues to see herself as not having any value or not being good enough for others. Mashiro's conflict on how she believes that she isn't good enough due to not having a dream to be passionate about is pretty nice and sort of relatable. Then, we have it challenged again in the battle scene, that's well animated by the way...
Through her interactions with Sora and Tsubasa, it's clear that her life has been affected a lot ever since they met and became Prettycures. Both Sora and Tsubasa revealed how much Mashiro's kindness has a strong value towards them. Through Mashiro's kind and gentle nature, Sora was able to progress with her dream and on fitting in her life at Sorashido City. Through that same nature, Tsubasa was able to recall something very important to him. How? Well, Mashiro's story of how she makes rice balls for her parents and how they join her in making those rice balls... It is really touching... It shows how Mashiro truly values life through the very nature she had as a person. She truly cares about other people's feelings genuinely and she wanted to do everything to make her friends smile. Wow, such a wholesome relatability there, Mashiro... I'm still hoping that the season will not forget Mashiro and her great characterization. It's still possible for her to get the "Sango treatment" or shall I say... Suffering as the character with the least amount of screentime... Yeah, I will continue rambling on about how much Prettycure has usually suffered in the issue of screen time towards the big cast of main characters... Guess I'll still hope for Mashiro to still be focused on her personality and not be shifted to the background and just exist...
Now, I get to ramble on about my two favorite characters in the season so far! Let's go, Sora and Tsubasa! As I said before, Sora continues to slay like the queen she is, despite being on the sidelines for a bit. She shows the progress she made in her notebook, which is actually a brief callback to the two parter episode debut of Tsubasa and Cure Wing. She even gets useful when she talks about her homeland, Skyland. It's clear that her logic is pretty much higher than average, but can be dumb on some occasions.
While I still kin Sora X Mashiro in this house, I also want to appreciate how the episode focuses on Tsubasa developing a bond with Mashiro. Look, Tsubasa is such a precious cinnamon roll to exist, and there's no point in denying it. The fact that it's both his episode and Mashiro's really is great and adorable. I mean, both have some sort of similarities in their personality... Even so, he continues to show more of his character and how he has friends to rely on now. Also, he can paint and draw?! Damn, he has some really good art skills...
Still, the moral lesson of this episode really touches my heart, as it shows how their bond as a team and friends really works. The lesson on how the taste of a food sometimes doesn't matter, as the feeling you had when eating that certain food has more value. While Tsubasa really wants to eat a "yakitai" for his welcome party, he actually wants to feel the same joy he felt during those times... Pretty sure that's a quick callback to Delicious Party Prettycure, but I'm sure that season was the sole reason why I suddenly shifted into other media like Project Sekai...
Moving on, that lesson really works in this episode, and I really realized how important friends really are. My bond with the squad was really treasuring, as my memories with them are proof that I do love and care for them. Such wholesomeness, for sure... This just makes the episode more than just a filler to skip through, as it's a filler that you want to look through... Our main cast has been starting to form a bond, and I'm all in for some great characterization callbacks here and there.
As for the other characters, they all played their part pretty well. While Elle has been shafted into the background as the usual baby she is, it's still nice to see Yoyo being there and be happy for the group. She really did have a good time in being both a lore character and a side character that watches from the background and witnesses the growth of the main characters. Her character of being both mysterious and heartwarming is such a nice touch for her to feel pretty human. Also, Kabaton is just there, but he continues to have the same cruelty he has towards Mashiro back in Episode 4. He may be on the sidelines and kind of annoying, but he also makes Mashiro realize that she has value, and her friends even saw that value within her. Her morality was being challenged greatly, and she continues to prove her growth by trying to see herself more. We'll still hope that Kabaton will continue to be straight up smart, evil, and unfair before the arrival of the new villains soon.
Oh well, the animation here is decent, and also great. I especially love the battle scene, as Cure Sky & Cure Wing is such a great pairing when it comes to attacking. Feeling bad for Cure Prism back there, but it shows us her value as a person rather than her battle status. I don't know why some people don't appreciate those characters that are shooters or shielders... But I think it all has to do with screen time issues and how irrelevant those roles can be at times... Anyhow, the pacing of this episode is pretty great and very adorable for my heart! I sure hope that next episode will be somewhat good with its pacing, as I saw the preview for the next episode... Well, it's just showing off that the animation will be a bit awkward and sort of giving stiff moments... I'm also bracing for impact, as it's a focus episode for not just Tsubasa, but also Ageha's... Oh boy, this is nerve wrecking... Still, I can't wait for more episodes to come in Hirogaru Sky Prettycure. This series is doing well with its pacing and characters so far, so I hope that it'll maintain onto the next episodes to come.
