Chapter 9 - The Ring of the past

Killer's Pov

"Mom, why is there a gaster blaster outside?" Rue asked, I snap out of my thoughts and reply, "Oh, sweetie, don't worry, It's just groceries...". Rue let out an "Ohhhh." And I smile at his adorable expression. I look up and I saw Color staring at me, his cheeks faintly dusted with the color of rainbow. I sighed and whistled for the Gaster blaster, It came flying in slowly and It spat everything out. Color and Rue was shocked, "Wow, that's a lot of...grocery there, Kills." Color said.

I giggled and said with confidence, "Just got a massive jackpot, and by jackpot? I meant massive tip.". "Mom, did you buy those flowers for yourself? They look so beautiful!" Rue suddenly said. I look down and saw the Orchid bouquet and I picked it up, "Oh, this? Heh, this was actually given to me.", I said. Before handing It to Rue, "Can you put this in the bedroom sweetie?" I ask. He respectively takes the bouquet and said "Sure, mom! I'll be back in a while.". I smile as I saw him run towards our room, I bend down to carry the box but I stopped when I felt my hand meeting someone else's. I was looking towards my side but turned my focus in front of me when I felt my hand graze on someone's hand.

It was Color, he was bending down, trying to carry the box. I snatch my hand and he carried the box up. I felt embarrassed but he didn't say a word. I quickly stood up and before I could say anything he said, "Relax bud, It's your birthday and you've been working so hard. Let me take care of this.", before walking towards the kitchen. I grab the extra paper bags on the floor and followed behind, Asgore...I did need him to carry the box.

When we got to the kitchen and placed the groceries on the counter, Color said, "Hey Kills, I have something to tell you..", I hummed and replied, "What is It?". "Well...you wanna go out drinking?" Color asks, I was speechless. Color + Alchohol? It was a weird combination, come to think of it. "Haha, very funny...You and Alchohol?" I said. He looked serious and I said "Wait, you're serious?". He nods and everything came to an awkward silence.

"Kills, It wasn't me who made the idea." Color confesses, I look at him confused and he said "Scoundrel did.". My eyes widened, "What? Scoundrel?" I muttered. "I know you're confused and I was too, but... they really miss you.", he says while looking at me with a sympathetic expression. His claims was suspicious but then I asked, "How do you know?". "He dropped by at 6 in the morning.", Color replies. I was silent...

"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! I have a gift for you!", Rue suddenly exclaims behind me. I accidentally scream "F*CK!" And I quickly shut my mouth. Fuck....I just cursed in front of my kid. I apologize frantically to him and told him not to repeat what I said. He nodded and I notice something in his hand. I was about to ask him about it when he gave it to me and said "Happy Birthday Mommy! This is my present for you!". I look at the rectangular paper-wrapped thing and open it. It was the picture I saw earlier but It was framed.

I smile and hug him saying: "Oh my Stars! This is the best gift ever, thank you so much sweetie!". I could hear him chuckle and he added "It's not just this, I also have one more.". I wipe away my tears of Happiness and let go, he gave me something wrapped in a white cloth and he said "Open this in another room mom cuz' this is very secret!". I could tell that it was aimed at Color and I reply "Okay?..". I stood up and he pushed me into another room before leaving me there. I was hella confused and I peeled some of the cloth before nostalgia and shock hit me.

A...silver gold ring, with a blue sapphire flower. To check if it was REALLY the ring, I picked it up and there...I saw the carving.

"Nightmare + Killer, Eres Mi Vida"

...My eyes widened, how did Rue get this?
I drop the cloth and for odd reasons, I began crying. I could feel someone hug me and I saw Rue hugging me with joy. "Do you like it mommy?" He asks. I  looked at him with tears and said "Yes...but, where did you get this?". He pauses for a moment and said in reply "From the strange black man.". I look at the ring and put it in my pocket. I knelt down and placed my hands on his shoulders. "Listen to me Rue..."

He looked at me with anticipation and I sighed, "About this..."Strange black man", what did he EXACTLY look like?" I asked. He looked at me and said "He was black from head to toe even his clothes but his one eye is color cyan...he also had these weird black tenticles...he looked like me.".

...Rue, what were you thinking?...

"Mom, are you okay?" He asks me, I pull him into a hug and I said in a worried tone "Sweetie, thank God your okay...you can't just accept random things from suspicious people!...". He was silent and I sighed, "Promise me Rue...If you meet him again, don't hesitate to run.", I warned him. "B-but why?.." He asks obliviously, "Just run...he can bring harm to us." I reply before letting go of him and kissing his forehead. "Don't say anything related to him okay?" I said, he nods and I squish his cheeks, "Now who's ready to get some new books?" I said in a happy voice. His expression lit up with joy and he excitedly says "BOOKS?!", i chuckle and I stood up, I lifted him up and we returned back to the kitchen.

Color was still there but he was preparing the table, he turned to look at us and asks "So how great was the present?". I chuckle, remembering the night when Nightmare proposed to me.

..."It was the greatest."
