Chapter 19 - Suspicious behavior

I glanced at Nightmare and I saw that his expression was angry. I chuckled at this, Color pulled away but Rue was still stuck like glue to me. "Mommy! You are not allowed to be out of my sighht!" Rue said while holding me tight. I sighed and Color chuckled. "Kills where were you anyways?" Color asks, "Wait, your name is not "Mom"?" Rue asks while looking up to me. Both me and Color tried not to laugh, "Yes sweetie, what do you think Color calls me when we're alone?" I asked teasingly, not really expecting a response.

"Uhm..."Mommy"?" He replies and I laugh a bit but when I looked at Color he was blushing. Before I could say anything, Nightmare's voice called me "Mrs. I'm ready to place my order!". I looked at Nightmare and I knew he was playing some tactics. I made Color sit at a table and I headed towards Nightmare's table while Rue was still hugging me. "What's your order, big guy? Didn't you order a bagel-sandwhich earlier?" I asked Nightmare in a seductive-teasing tone.

I could see Nightmare smirking at me and he stared at Rue who was holding me tight. "I would like... a black coffee." He replied with a happy expression on his face which made me smile. I left to go to the kitchen with Rue still clinging to me. All of the staff didn't mind it since they were aware and were in good terms with Rue. When I asked one of my co-workers for a black exresso.

Oona stared at Rue and smiled before saying "Aww...Killer how did you give birth to an angel? Oh! Black exo, coming right up." And going back to work. I smile in appreciation. She was one of what little people I was in good terms with other than Rox the teenage emo girl and Gloriana my strict but caring manager.

I look down on Rue who was still holding me and I sighed, I rubbed his back and said "Honey, you know the drill...". He looks up to me and says "But I don't want to... you might go missing again...". I kissed him on the forehead and said "Honey, Mommy wont go anywhere this time. I'm here." He hugs me and I could hear him say "Fine...". I chuckled and said "Don't be sad, your Father's gonna become goopy- I mean! You can play with Helium and Cinchi..".

Shit, I wasn't supposed to say that. "What do you mean goopy?" Rue asks obliviously, I awkwardly laugh it off and I placed Rue down. "Okay mom..." He said and I squished his cheeks, "Now what are you gonna say?" I asked in a gentle voice. "I love you mommy." He said and I smiled before replying "I love you too, now go accompany Color, I think he's crying right now.". He giggled before leaving and I was immediately handed a tray of drinks.

"Latte - Table 9, Choccie Coff - Table 6, Frapp - Table 1, Black Ex - Table 19, Strawberry latts - Table 4, Berry Coff - Table 16." A random co-worker says and I was off to deliver the orders.

I deliver them swiftly and carefully while sneaking a few glances at Color and Rue's table to see if both of them were doing well. I walked up to Nightmare's table and placed it down, "One Black express~" I said before looking at Nightmare's eyes.

Wait a minute...the fuck am I doing?! I can't just fucking jump in his arms after 5 years!

I took a deep breath and looked away before leaving, shit...I knew I was blushing. Suddenly 2 huskies ran into me excitedly, I fell on the ground and they licked my face. It was Io and Breezze, two twin energetic white huskies. I chuckled and I pet them, they let out happy noises and Rue ran to me.

"Nu, Io and breezze Mommy is only mine!" He said while hugging me, he got licked on the face and I chuckled. I glanced at Color and I could see him smile which I smiled back too before glancing at Nightmare. He was watching us with a smile and I stood up, Rue was still hugging me tight and I sighed. I looked at Nightmare who was still staring and decided to "flirt" a bit...

I winked at him before turning to Color's table and walking towards it. I placed Rue next to Color, immediately I could hear sounds of a dog runnning towards us. When I turned to see what it was, Helium and Cinche takled Rue on the chair. It almost scared the shit out of me and I sighed. Color only laughed and said "Kills you look so cute when your spooked.".

I look at him with confusion and he awkwardly chuckles before avoiding eye contact. I laugh at this and I said "Okay? I'll go back to work now.". He looks up and I turn around, walking away.

Rue's POV

Mom is being reallly weird today...

He spoke to this customer at table 19 like he knew him and the way he said it reminds me of that one character that flirted with Corvinous in the book I read last night and plus their feelings were really weird... it was like a weird happy kinda like how the couple having a date at table 1 was feeling. Plus the weird part, the man also returned mom's way of speaking??? I just don't know how to describe it. But i didn't like them doing that...

Dad loves mom and mom is supposed to love Dad..

When we went to the kitchen he said that Dad was gonna be goopy? But Dad doesn't have any weird transformation.. no one that i know is goopy- ...the strange black man...

...It can't be right? This isn't some weird storybook.

But on the other hand.. looking at mom working now..

He seems...

Less focused...

I know he glances at us sometimes and I know he does it out of care, But...he also glances at the man at table 19...

Wait are they blushing?...

...

No...Color is MY father...why is mom looking at him like that and not Dad? Wait...his eyes..they look like mine...no, maybe they met earlier?

I don't want to think about it but...Mom doesn't just blush at someone normally, I know he does sometimes but It's usually when he's embarrassed. But this time It's different...

I-i don't like where this is going.
