As the family went to sleep, the sun rose from where it hid and brought morning. The child woke up with ease and walked towards the kitchen, having smelt the delicious odor of breakfast. He could pick up nervousness yet excitement from his mother who was preparing his son's plate. He could also pick up joy and sorrow from his "Dad's" heart. He quickly hugged and kissed his mother good morning, ignoring all the warning signs that waved in his mind.

He sneakily observed all the physical changes and he saw it when his mother sat down on the table. There he saw on the right and ring finger of his mother... a ring of beautiful face wrapped around it. This baffled the unaware and uninformed child; he could not understand why there were many clashing emotions emitting off his parents? But also, emphasis on the ring in Killer's finger.

Color turned his focus on Rue's expression, and he smiled sweetly. Trying to cheer him up.  "Good mornin' kid, how's sleep?", he asked merrily before taking a bite of the breakfast. Rue only smiled as an answer, and he felt himself being lifted by his mother unto his very own chair. "You should eat up now sweetie, mommy needs to tell you about something later." Killer said as he happily sat next to his son. Color also smiling, happy for the black-teared skeleton. Rue didn't ask any more questions and excitedly devoured the food prepared for him.

If his mom needed to tell him something, it was important.

Color had finished first and he left the table with his plate and placed it in the sink before leaving for the living room, leaving the two alone. He knew that they were going to need it...

After the mother and son had finished, Killer placed their dirty dishes in the sink before facing his son. Rue eagerly waited for the news and Killer awkwardly laughed for the introduction. "So? What is it mom?" The child asked gleefully as his mother tried to find the words to describe what he was going to say. "Well... me and "Mr. Nightmare" have been... we've been dating for a couple of months." Killer confessed and he could not describe Rue's expression. It seemed unwelcoming.

"Wha?" He asked as he stared in disbelief at his mother who was nervously trying to figure out what he felt with the news. Honestly, he was shocked beyond belief.  "Me and Mr. Nightmare have been dating for a couple of months now..." Killer repeated his statement again, only this time, expecting more from his child. "Oh..." Rue said, trying to fight the speechlessness. He was disappointed.

"And... He asked me to marry him..." The mother said nervously, squeezing his other hand for support. Rue's eyes widened at that.

Mr. Nightmare. Did. What?

"I... Is there more you want to ask about? I can talk more about your real father, you know? -". "Mom...", Rue spoke up, not handling any of this very well. "Yes, sweetie...?" Killer answered, he was afraid of what his son thought about this. "May I please be excused? I get that you've... accepted Mr. Nightmare's proposal, but I don't really approve of this." He truthfully said and Killer was shocked. He did not expect this at all.

"O-Oh... okay sweetie... do you need some time to digest?" Killer asked, concerned. Rue was silent "Yes, maybe...", he quietly answered before hopping off and leaving his mother in a guilt-trip.

Rue entered the living room and he saw Color happily watching some TV and then look at him since he caught his attention. "Hey there kiddo, how was the talk?" He asked but Rue said nothing and continued to his room. Color was weirded out by this, and he stood up, walking towards the kitchen to ask what had escalated. He was quite curious to what had happened, having experienced something odd with Rue. There he saw Killer, in a quiet bubble with a sad expression on his face. He was surprised, he didn't expect this either. He sat next to him and still, He was silent.

"Hey... how did it go?" He asked softly and a regretful sigh came from the black-teared skeleton. Color had a bad feeling about this, and Killer only confirmed it with his response. "Not so well, he... he didn't take it well." Killer confessed as he stared at his hands. Color only sighed and placed a hand on his back, stroking it, trying to comfort his best friend. "You know... he's just a kid, maybe he just didn't expect that." Color replied, trying to reassure him but it failed. "No, it's not like that... The way he said it made it seem that i did something wrong...!" Killer responded in a whisper-like tone; he had broken down into tears. Color was shocked by this and he felt his stomach turn.

He knew that he may or may have not been part of the reason why Rue acted like that. He did express his love for Killer to Rue and Rue may have still believed that he was his dad. In all honesty, He felt guilty. Killer then went on about what happened but as he spoke of his son, he did not feel an inch of anger only... regret.

Huh... "Rue" does mean regret.

After he expressed all of his sorrow, Color brought him into a tight hug and Killer reciprocated it. It was quiet for a while...the two taking everything in. "I'll talk to the kid, don't worry." Color said in a soft voice and the two parted. "Okay but don't scold him...it's not his fault." Killer requested and Color nodded before heading to where he believed Rue was staying at the moment.

He had thought about everything, and it really haunted him... He knew he was a part of the reason. He had thought about how to approach this, and he had really no idea. He was just going to wing this out, I guess. He continued his way until he stumbled upon his door. He knocked gently and spoke "Hey, kiddo... Are you okay?". He heard a low groan and the door opened. Revealing a... how was I going to describe this? Rue stood there with an expression that really seemed out of it.

Killer was right, the child did not handle the news as well as anyone expected.
