"We're not going to this school."
Inasa's words take a long minute before they resonate in my brain, my mind finally gauging the meaning of his sentence.
I follow the line of my brother's gaze, looking past him after his out of character statement in utter confusion, trying to see what caused him to hold so much hatred and rage in his usually kind eyes. I see the back of a boy with half white, half red hair getting into a fancy car. I also see a flame in the back seat of the car, and when it drives past us, I just barely spot the Number 2 Pro Hero Endeavor in the back seat sitting next to the boy. I gasp lightly at seeing my favorite hero, but start to quickly piece together exactly what pissed Inasa off now.
"His son is just like him." Inasa says in deep rooted hatred, his gaze never leaving the car even after it's out of sight.
"Inasa... You can't be serious right now. We've worked so hard for this." I say quietly to my brother, looking up at him with pleading eyes. I don't know how set his mind is on this yet, but I'm hoping it hasn't been long. Once Inasa has his mind made up about something, there's almost no force on this earth that can change it.
"No." He answers shortly and then walks away.
I can't believe this. All that hard work, all the training, all the scheming to get us both into the top hero school together. All that work, and Inasa is just going to throw it away because of his stupid grudge he has against the flame hero. I drop my usual smile I almost always have for my beloved brother, and instead I scowl at his retreating back.
"I'm going here." I say quietly with determination to myself as I follow behind him, taking one last look at the school behind us. "With or without you." He doesn't hear my proclamation, but he's about to learn that I can be just as stubborn as he is.
We walked home in simmering, blistering silence. He was angry at whatever it is he has in his head, and I was angry at him. The more I thought about it, there was absolutely no reason why one stupid boy, no matter whose parents they have, should be the reason why Inasa and I should change our entire life plans.
I won't do it, I won't change my mind. If I passed the exams and got into UA, I'm going.
"How did the entrance exams go?" Makoto asks us with concealed excitement when we get home, trying to be casual as he drinks his afternoon tea and appears nonchalant. It wasn't until I slammed the front door closed that he actually looked up from his cup of tea and took in our appearance. Inasa and I had stopped in the entry way, facing each other finally ready to have our brewing fight.
"We aren't going to UA." Inasa says sternly, and I grit my teeth and literally growl at him in anger.
"You don't get to decide that!!" I yell at him. "I worked hard for this! You worked hard for this! We've been planning to go there for years! Inasa, you can't just decide for us both to not go there because something pissed you off!!!"
"You didn't see the look in that cold bastard's eyes!" Inasa screams at me, stomping over to tower over me. Even though we're both tall for our ages, he's still several inches taller than me. "That damn son of Endeavor is going to UA, and I will not be going to the same school that accepts emotionless pieces of crap like him."
"You might not even be in the same class as him, Ina-nii!" I retort instantly, getting closer and slapping him on the chest. "You're blowing this way out of proportion! You don't like the look in his eyes? Then don't freaking look at them!" I hit him again, and then he hits me back.
"Enough!" Makoto screams at us, pushing us away from each other. "What is all this nonsense about?!"
After another hour of yelling and bickering and fighting with each other, Makoto having moved us to our houses dojo at one point, we both finally argued our case. We were still fighting though by the time our father got home, and that's when the fight had to be put on pause. Unfortunately, the power was in Inasa's hands right now.
