"Ina-nii!" I call out to my twin brother from the bottom of the stairs in our large home. "Hurry up, I don't want to be late!"
"Almost ready!" Inasa shouts loudly from his room before a loud thump and the sound of things falling echoes loudly. "Just- Just a minute!" He adds on sheepishly.
"Irisa." The deep voice of our father calls sternly from the door. He's in his Gale Storm uniform, ready to go out to his hero agency for the day. "Stay close to Inasa on the way to and from the school. Do well on your exams." He says before heading out the door, but pauses and turns to look at me with his sharp eyes to add on one more thing. "And don't get in the way of the hero course students. This is a big day for them, just head to your general studies exams and then wait for your brother to be finished."
"Yes father." I answer robotically, burying down my anger that I so rarely have but only he can bring out. "Have a safe day at work, save a bunch of lives." I say more energetically to him and he smirks warmly at me before leaving.
"So, you're still set on doing this?" Makoto Honda, our household's caretaker, asks me softly once my father is gone.
"Yup!" I say happily, pulling out the school application. "I can't thank you enough for helping me with this, Makoto. I'm ready to prove my worth."
"You know this is going to get messy before it gets better, right?" Makoto asks quietly, hearing my brother come down the stairs noisily. "Your father still thinks you're applying to the general studies department."
"Pssh, my little sis is gonna be a hero right alongside me, I have full faith in her passing the entrance exams." Inasa says fondly as he joins us and I grin up at him. "We're gonna go Plus Ultra!!" He yells excitedly, getting pumped for his own recommendation exam.
I look down at my application forms again with a determined smile. With the help of Makoto and a well-timed distraction from Inasa, we got my father's signature on the UA Hero Course application for me. He thought he was signing the General Studies form, but we all tricked him and now I have my ticket to become a hero in my hands. Inasa is getting the easy way into UA with his recommendation, but that's just fine with me. I know he would have beat out any of the competition anyway, and this makes it easier for me to be on the top with the other applicants.
"I'll prove to him that I can be a hero." I say confidently to Makoto. "I'm gonna put in so much more dedication, my passion will shine with my actions!!" I yell out in excitement then turn to my brother. "Let's go become Plus Ultra!!"
"I'm proud of you both, go show them what it means to be a Yoarashi." Makoto tells us before my brother and I walk out the door. I grin once more over my shoulder at our caretaker, he's been my biggest supporter besides Inasa on achieving my dream of being a hero. He's watched me grow so much over the last 10 years since he was hired, and he's helped keep my father in the dark about all my training.
I wasn't allowed to train my quirk after the age of six. An incident happened that injured me greatly and caused me to become blind in my left eye, so my father stopped training me like he used to. Instead, he trained only Inasa and forced me to spend a long time in recovery. My brother hated this, hated that I was being left out and excluded, so once my recovery was complete, he started to train me in secret. Every night after our father went to sleep, my brother would show me what he was taught that day, then for hours I would train by myself in order to get better. It was exhausting, I rarely got a full night's sleep, and I only had limited direction on how to use my quirk, but I still overcame my limits with sheer determination and passion.
Makoto was the only one in the household who discovered me during those late nights. I begged and pleaded with him to not tell my father, and he agreed only on the condition that I don't overwork myself. Makoto was hired into the household after our mother passed away. His main responsibilities lie in keeping the house in order, which since we have a very large house, means he manages the staff and all of our schedules. His other main responsibility though was in aiding in my recovery. He had a medical background and a minor healing quirk, so he was a prime choice in serving the household of a top pro hero, a future pro hero, and little injured girl.
