I stare down at the test on the counter as tears well up in my eyes. Two lines. I run my hand through my hair as a smile creeps up on my face.

I'm pregnant.

A sense of joy and happiness creeps into me but also a sense of fear and uncertainty.

My wife and I have been trying for a couple of years now, through various treatments, but everytime the test comes back negative. This treatment was our last try, since it became too exhausting and heartbreaking.

She's currently at work, and she is coming back in a couple of hours. I decide to make dinner and run to the store to get some stuff, so I can tell her I'm pregnant.

I pick up my car keys and quickly head to a nearest supermarket.

As I enter the market I immediately make my way to the baby section. My heart flutters with happiness as I look at all the onesies and small little shoes that look too small to be true.

I decide to get a small onesie that says 'hello mommy' and small shoes that are all white since I don't know the gender yet.

I get home and quickly find a small box to set up the big surprise. I find a small white box and place it on the counter as I try to figure out how to place each item.

I ended up folding the onesie and placing it in the middle. The shoes are on the left side and two pregnancy tests are right side. I carefully close the box and hide it and then I go to prepare dinner.

The dinner wasn't anything special. I made some home made pizza since I know loves the way I make pizza. I set the table up and poured some wine in her glass and some apple juice in mine.

The door opens revealing my beautiful wife.

"I'm home" she shouts as she takes off her coat and shoes. I smile and wrap my arms around her neck as she wraps hers around my waist.

"I missed you" I murmur as I peck her lips softly

"I missed you more" she smiles placing another kiss on my lips "did you make pizza?" She questions and I nod making her smile "have I ever told you how much I love that pizza that you make?" She adds

"Yes, you have like a million times" I laugh, pecking her lips again

"Let's eat then" she smiles as we make our way to the dining room "wine?" Hailee questions as she sits down and notices wine in her glass

"Yeah...." I smile sitting down opposite her

"I didn't forget anything did I?" Hailee whispers

"No, no, just... you know..... you had  along day, and I thought wine would make it better" I lie as I take a sip out of my glass

"You're such a terrible liar Y/n" Hailee chuckles "now tell me why am I really drinking wine? Are we celebrating something?" She questions as her eyes scan the room for any clues

"I have a surprise for you, but first I want us to have dinner" I explain, smiling

"A surprise?" Hailee asks, and I nod "okay, let's eat then"

The dinner goes by fairly quickly. It was mainly both of us talking about our day.

"Can I have my surprise now?" Hailee asks as she sets her wine glass down

"Yes. Follow me" I shortly respond before we get up and make our way to the kitchen where I hid the box.

I feel my heart beat increase as I lift the box on the counter. Hailee looks at me confusingly.

"Open it" I smile glancing at the box

Hailee nods and places the box in front of her. She lifts the lid up and her eyes light up at the sight. Tears well up in my eyes as Hailee looks at the box in disbelief.

"You're pregnant?!" Hailee exclaims as she looks at me

"Yeah" I softly say and Hailee instantly pulls me in a hug. Her hands wrap around my waist, while mine are wrapped around her neck.

"We're gonna be parents!" Hailee states  in pure shock as we pull away. I smile and kiss her lips. "I can't believe this" she exhales, as her eyes well up with tears "we're gonna be parents" she repeats as a tear slips down her cheek

"We're gonna be parents" I smile, letting a few of my tears slip aswell. Hailee places her hands on my cheeks rubbing my tears away. Our foreheads lean against each other, her hands still resting on my cheeks. "I love you so much Hailee" I smile

"I love you too" she smiles as she connects our lips "and I love you too" she whispers placing her hand on my stomach
