~Aurora's pov~
"What do you mean you lied?" I asked.
"The note threatened that if I did not hand up the file, they would reveal my true identity and kill everyone on the ship." He let out a sigh. I gasped.
"So the murderer is someone you know! That's why he knew your name!" I yelled.
"Unfortunately, yeah. I have a feeling he knows about you and me as well." He ruffled his hair. My pupils dilated. Everything made sense now.
"Wait a minute...how do you not know what the guy looks like?" I asked.
"Well this association has a lot of members. Those that are cruel and vindictive...you can't expect me to care who they are or what they look like. All I wanted was to finish the assignment."
"But, you chose to be a spy-"
"I was forced to be a spy; I didn't choose to be a spy." He grimaced.
With wide eyes, I glanced at him.
This was new information for me.
With a sigh, he strolled over to the sofa and sat down.
"Are you going to explain yourself?"
As I sat down, I asked.
"No"
"Why"
"I became a spy the day I died." I don't want to go through it again."
"Please. It might be useful to us-"
"Explain to me how something that caused me so much pain will help us?" He clenched his teeth. I cupped his cheek.
"I, too, lost a lot. I understand how you feel, but I wasn't forced into it. This is the road I picked. Please tell me...please tell me you're not a bad guy. Please tell me I didn't fall in love with a villain." I remarked this as I stared into his bright blue eyes. He averted his gaze.
"What's wrong with falling in love with a villain?" He asked.
"Because they just cause others grief. Destroy the world's peace and love." I muttered.
"What if they were forced into it?"
"They can then redeem themselves. If a person has a good heart, no one, I repeat, no one, can ever turn them into a true evil unless they choose to be." With a sigh, I snuggled into his shoulder. We remained in silence until he broke it.
"At the time, my family was in a difficult situation...My sister needed a kidney transplant. She was on her deathbed... We all tried to match our kidneys to hers, but only me and my brother's matched..." He came to a halt to take a deep breath.
"But we were too young...he was only 15 years old, and I was 17. We couldn't both donate, and we couldn't afford someone else's kidney...So, one night while gazing out at the lake and throwing stones into it,. A man in a black mask sat down beside me. He gave me the exact amount of money I needed. Without hesitation, I signed the contract without reading it. I signed over my life to them." He lay back on the sofa, closing his eyes. I was speechless..
He suddenly drew me into his arms and gazed at me.
"I had no idea who they were...They were an undercover illegal arms gang out to conquer the world. The Spanish government was also on the lookout for them.
I was only a 17-year-old teenager trying to save his younger sister. It was not my fault..." As his eyes welled up, he tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.
"What happens if you don't follow the terms of the contract?" I asked.
"Then they'd murder my entire family."
