In Blood, Sweat And Tears
By Z3its0u

Ever since the dead started walking Lana has been staying at a camp with about 15 other people. It's been two months since the dead started to walk and there are no signs of anyone coming to save the survivors. Lana tried to see the good in everything but it was becoming harder and harder to do that.

The group has been sending a small group to go to the city and get supplies every week. They would leave at sunrise and return in the afternoon. These were the days Lana hated the most because her mother was a part of the group that went to the city. Lana felt anxious whenever the group returned to the city.

Lana had nothing left besides her mother and a couple of friends at camp. Her father has been dead since she was 12 and she left nearly all her belongings behind when she had to flee the city. She didn't know if she could stand to lose anymore.

When Lana woke up her mother was already gone, collecting supplies for the group. The girl looks at her mother's sleeping bag in sorrow while she silently begs for her mother's safety.

Lana groggily gets out of her green sleeping bag and changes out of her pajamas. Changing into a pair of blue jeans and a simple black tank top.

When Lana stepped out of the tent she saw the small kids playing while their mothers watched them closely. Dale keeps watch on top of his RV which is constantly broken, and the others are either sitting in camping chairs or doing chores.

Lana walks over to Lori who is sitting with the other mothers while watching Carl play with the other kids. When Lori sees Lana she immediately smiles and greets her with "Good morning, did you sleep well?"

"It was okay... Those sleeping bags aren't the most uncomfortable things in the world," Lana complains. "How about you?" she asks.

"Same as you. But it's better than nothing." Lori says optimistically.

"I guess," Lana says with a sigh as she wipes sweat off her forehead.
