Lana played with her shoulder-length hair as she sat on the stairwell in her cell block. Thanks to Lori Lana's hair was no longer choppy and jagged and was now smoothed out. Carl was sitting next to Lana, fixing up a spare tool he found somewhere in the prison. It had been a couple of days since Hershel's accident and nearly everyone was helping clean up the prison, and the ones who weren't were assisting Hershel in his recovery. Lana wouldn't mind cleaning up the prison and making it look more like a home (especially for Beth) but she would much rather help Hershel in his recovery.
A loud "creakkk" grabs Lana's attention, she and Carl glance up to see Lori and Beth proudly carrying a pair of crutches for Hershel. Lana and Beth smile brightly at each other as Beth makes a B-line for Hershel's cell. Lana gets up and quickly follows behind the two girls, excited to see this milestone in Hershel's rehab.
"All right." Lori smiles, presenting the crutches out for the man to grab. Hershel smiles brightly at the crutches before beginning to get up. Although Lana is happy for the man it is still sad to see him struggle to do something simple such as sitting up.
"Just take your time," Lori says reassuringly with a slight head nod. Lana picks at her fingers nervously as she watches the man sit up right, hoping that they aren't rushing the healing process.
Hershel winces as he's almost sitting upright. "Daddy, don't push yourself," Beth warns as she quickly places her hands on the man's shoulders to assist him.
"What else am I going to do?" Hershel asks with a chuckle as he pulls himself onto the crutches with the help of Lori, Lana, and his daughter. "I can't stand looking up at that bottom of that bunk anymore." Hershel groans as he begins to walk.
The man stumbles. "Whoa," Beth mumbles as she and Lana stabilize him. Once he has regained his balance the man begins to walk slowly. The two Grimes and Beth watch in amazement while Lana still has her hand pressed to the man's shoulders, ready to support him if he stumbles once again.
"You know, I think I'm pretty steady," Hershel assures Lana. Lana sighs and distances herself from him, but the girl remains cautious even with the small distance between them.
