Edward attempted to comb his hair into something more 'put together.'
It failed.
The day had arrived. Friday. And he had decided to get ready just a little more earlier than usual to make sure he had enough time to put effort into his looks. Alice was driving him to school in her car today.
And thank God because Edward forgot to put away the clothes Jacob left on his seat.
Edward wanted to make a good impression on Billy. Edward had spoken to Carlisle privately about going on Quileute land to visit Jacob. And after some explaining and reassurance, Carlisle agreed for him to go. Carlisle had called the council — having the phone number saved since they had arrived back in Forks — to make sure that it was absolutely, positively alright for Edward to go. They had come to an arrangement that the treaty was still intact, and it was only void for Edward for this one instance. When all was confirmed between both parties, Carlisle, Esme, and Edward went on a hunt that Thursday to ensure Edward had his strength and thirst sated in case anything were to go tits up.
Edward knew this wasn't easy for Billy to accept. He can only imagine how the council and pack reacted when Jacob told them.

"He WHAT?!"
"It's just for a day! Just after school. It's not a big deal!" Jacob explained in the council meeting room before the pack and tribal leaders.
"Not a big deal?! Jake! Vampires aren't allowed on this land! It doesn't matter who they are! I can't believe you would invite him without consulting us about it first!" Sam yelled furiously.
"Dad said it was fine!" Jacob yelled back, pointing his hand in the direction of his father across the room.
"Now, hold on a minute-" Billy attempted to clarify before Jacob cut him off.
"Edward will be under supervision the entire time. You know I would never let anything bad happen," Jacob expressed seriously.
"He better," Sam scowled. "I want everyone out on patrol on Friday. We are not letting a single thing slip past us as long as he's here," he commanded before storming out.
The entire pack groaned loudly.
"Thanks a lot, Jake," Quil sneered.
"Yeah, there goes my Friday night with Kim," Jared complained.
"Jared, no one wants to hear about your Friday night with Kim," Embry grumbled.
"In case any of you haven't noticed, we have a vampire coming over on Friday! Is nobody hearing what I'm hearing?!" Leah cried out.
"Leah, it's only Edward. As if he's gonna do anything," Quil responded boredly.
"Yeah, seriously. I may not like the guy, but I doubt he's gonna ask Jake to come over just so he can attempt to slaughter us all. If he wanted to kill Jake, the last place he's gonna do it is around a pack of wolves," Paul agreed.
Leah stood there stunned and looked at her packmates as if they had all grown a second head. "... I can't believe you all. None of you care?"
They glanced at each other with arched brows.
