Amelia's Perceptive

It was a few minutes before midnight. I considered not going still feeling foolish for falling for Sebastian once more. Seeing Adelaide wrapped around him was a cold reminder that the relationship that I desired was not the relationship that we shared. I spent the rest of the night making sure that everything was properly prepared in the Undercroft before heading back to my room, reflecting angrily at my own foolish intentions.

Truthfully, I hoped Sebastian would be too busy celebrating his win and forget our plans altogether. I would rather prefer to be stood up than embarrassed anymore.

But, I needed that book. There was no way I would be able to get it by myself. I did need Sebastian's help.

I changed into black riding pants and a thicker grey sweater. Sebastian's Slytherin green and grey scarf had still been lying on my bed since I returned. Angry at the memory, I decided to shove it underneath my bed.

As I approached our normal spot, memories of our fifth year creep back into my head. I prayed that this time would go better than the prior year. I was worried about handling this book alone because of the stories that Amit had told me. If either of us gets caught, we might fail to get the book altogether.

As I turned the corner to the library, I was overcome with a wave of deja vu. Sebastian stood there, leaning his back against the railing, his hazel eyes looking devilish upwards waiting for me with a grin.

He looked almost the same as the first time I met him here, the same freckled face, but now more slimmed. He was taller now and his shoulders broader. He had changed into a black sweater but was still in his tight tan riding pants from the game, but now wearing a blue scarf.

My house scarf.

"How do I look in blue?" Sebastian teased.

I was still too angry to deal with his flirtatious nature. His ability to make you feel like you were the most important girl to him was a side effect of his natural charm, I felt foolish forgetting that he had taken a likely to Adelaide already.

She was the one who got to give him a celebration kiss after the game, not me.

"It would look better on me," I coldly said attempting to yank the scarf off him in the same manner he did earlier that day.

But he avoided me, "Sorry, too slow!" He mocked dancing around my reach.

The playful behavior would normally be appreciated and at one point would give me butterflies, but anger had taken over me, and all I felt was the sinking pit in my stomach.

The longer I remained there with him, the more memories of our fifth year were flooding through my head. It was the night that Sebastian first helped me sneak into the library when I realized how much I trusted him.

His devilish charm had me filled with butterflies that whole night, however, it wasn't until he stood up and took the fall for me that I realized that he was more than just another friend.

"You okay?" Sebastian asked realizing my annoyed mood.

"I'm fine, I'm just anxious to get this over with," I said attempting to get the night moving.

"Isn't it just a book?" Sebastian laughed, flicking my scarf another layer around his neck in an attempt to keep it.

"Well, I have a confession," I began, "Amit was the one who informed me about this new book that arrived in the restricted section. It's called, The Monster Book of Monsters, it is by a madman named Edwardus Lima. He made the book sentient, the first of its kind really."
