Amelia's Perceptive

The morning light was too bright when I woke that day. Sebastian lay peacefully asleep next to me in the Undercroft among the makeshift bed. My heart fluttered in my chest at the sight.

My Sebastian. My boyfriend

I pushed closer to him, gently filling the space between us, yet still trying to move slowly enough in an attempt to not wake him. He must have gotten too hot during the night as he disregarded his sweater into a pile next to him. His freckled chest raised to the ceiling. Too many to count.

A particular set of dots by his collarbone stood out. Gently I ran my finger over the pattern. Four freckles made an awkward-shaped box with smaller ones trailing off each corner. The Maiden constellation dotted his skin as if he were part of the sky. Similarly yet not exactly the same.

I wondered how many constellations were hidden among his freckles.

Sebastian's chest rose with a heavy breath as his hazel eyes flashed open eyeing me before cracking a smile and pulling me closer into his chest, "Can I help you?" He teased with a sleepy voice.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you," I confessed as he buried me against his skin.

"It's Christmas, so I'll forgive you," He teased placing a gentle kiss against my forehead, "Merry Christmas, Darling."

The smile burned my cheeks with joy as I crawled up against his chest to find his lips, "Merry Christmas," I whispered back before stealing a kiss.

Sebastian's hand ran up my back and under my shirt as he hungrily kissed back.

My skin crawled with goosebumps as his cool skin ran gently across mine, his other hand resting on the back of my neck holding my head close to him. His tongue rolled against mine like a whisper.

My hand had been resting on his collarbone until I felt my hand start to burn with excitement. The strings of his soul were just at the edge of my fingertips

Of all the souls I've touched, his was my favorite. It wasn't pure or perfect. There was a lot of pain that I wished I could take away from him. But his love was by far the most remarkable thing that I'd ever felt. Sebastian's love was too great.

"Your hand is burning again," Sebastian mumbled against my lips.

My cheeks burned with embarrassment as I apologized, "Oh, I'm sorry..."

"Don't be," He smiled as he brought my hand to his mouth, kissing the tips of my fingers, "I like it when you touch my soul."

My heart fluttered into my throat in place of words. I slid my fingers away from his lips and burned over the freckles on his cheeks instead so I tasted his kisses again.

Sebastian wrapped his arms around me so tightly as if the butterflies in my stomach would lift me off the ground. My heartbeat pounded against his.

It was the first time that it felt like we weren't on borrowed time with each other. No sneaking around in the darkness or rushing before we were caught. The light was shining and there was nothing to hide anymore.
