Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off by Panic! At the Disco

Amelia's Perceptive

Only 12 hours remained until I had to leave for our meeting spot in the Forbidden Forest. Thankfully it was late enough in the library to be left alone. My eyes kept skimming over the same page countless times as I tried to force myself to actually read each word. There was nothing left to read that would actually help at this point, but it felt good to be left alone.

My head was still grasping at the events that took place the prior night. My stomach felt sick with guilt knowing that I shared Sebastian's bed, knowing that he didn't belong to me.

Perhaps my sickness was my punishment for my own sin to feel so misguided. Seeing how Sebastian's body trembled uncontrollably in the dark he just kept shouting nonsense as it was like a riddle. His eyes looked directly through me as if I was a ghost in his room.

But then there were the hours before, how his arms wrapped around me so protective and how his kisses still lingered on my lips. My head wanted to regret everything, but my body would do it all again. I would feel the same pain all over again if it gave me one more moment to feel his lips against mine.

The font of the book in front of me was growing smaller and smaller each time my eyes found it. I put my head down between the pages in defeat. There was nothing more I could do to prepare besides rest in these remaining hours.

"Amelia?" A voice drew my head back up from the dusty pages of the book, golden eyes looking down at me, "Sorry to bother you. Do you have a moment?" Adelaide asked, already taking the seat across from me.

I sat up and quickly straightened out my hair from pulling at it in frustration. My body was almost in shock as my eyes met with Adelaide's as if she were able to look into my eyes and read my mind. But she couldn't, her eyes weren't reading my mind, they were too full of concern.

"I was wondering if you heard from Sebastian?" Her eyes pleaded for an answer, "I know you and Ominis are really close. I haven't heard from him since he got hit at the match yesterday. Has Ominis told you anything?"

Adelaide's golden eyes became glossy as she held back the tears.

The image of Sebastian's bruised ribcage flashed in my mind. Along with his freckled back. The words flowed out of my mouth with shocking ease, "Ominis said Sebastian took a bad hit. He had some trouble moving, but he should be okay. I think he is mostly just resting if I had to guess."

The words seemed to relax Adelaide's concerns as she swallowed away her sadness with a hard gulp. The lie was easier to give than I expected. Her eyes shifted down to the book in front of me as she still was struggling to control her emotions.

"I'm glad that you two are so close," She said with venom on her lips.

The words lingered in the air. I hadn't considered Adelaide knowing anything, perhaps Sebastian had told her already. Was she attempting to catch me in the lie? My heart raced as her eyes looked back towards me, a heat burning behind them.

"You and Ominis," She clarified.

An awkward laugh rose to my lips, "Yes, Ominis is a dear friend."

"At least he is honest with you. I feel like Sebastian is always hiding something from me," Adelaide said resting her head into her palm, elbow balancing on the table. Her eyes wandered for the correct words.
