The sound of rain pounded on the windows, I laid my body into my pillow more watching as each droplet raced down the glass.
"-don't worry dear child, the darkness isn't as bad as it seems.." my mother read from a book.
I listened carefully to the words she spoke, as the rain poured into my mind, bringing comfort and calmness. I felt my eye's getting heavier.
"-see...everything is alright.... Fear is just a thing created by thoughts." She closed the book. "All done.." she finished.
"Mom... could you sing to me?" I asked.
"Of course 'you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey-" she continued singing.
Her voice and the sound of the rain falling quickly settled me into a deep slumber.

I woke up to find the rain had finally stopped pouring. The sun barely showing though the clouds. I rolled over to see Kurapika still asleep. I slipped from the covers and walked over to my brothers bed.
"Big brother.... Wake up..."
I poked his cheek, his face scrunched a little as he began to roll over.
"It's too early Makota....go back to sleep."
"The sun is showing, it's morning! Come on!" I begged.
He gave a small growl and sat up, giving me a lazy stare.
"Alright, alright. Let's go"

After we got dressed, we began our walk around the villages shops. I couldn't stop taking in the smell of the rain that has passed. The way the wind blew a chilly breeze onto my face, the sun quickly warming me back up. Left over droplets of rain falling from the roofs of the buildings.
"Oh Kurapika, isn't the village beautiful after a storm?" I asked grabbing his arm as we walked.
"I'm glad you appreciated the rain... it is healing." He said looking down at me with a smile.

"Dark clouds are coming in again, looks like we'll be having even more rain. The sun will be hidden, and dark will follow." He continued.
"I'm not scared of the dark..." I smiled.
"Well we should get back to the house so we don't get sick from the rain, we have that big test tomorrow you know." He smiled.
"Carry me?" I asked reaching my hands up towards him.
"Makota... your 9 years of age.... Your to big to carry..." he laughs
"Your 17! You can do it!" I exclaimed.
He laughed as he lifted me up into his arms and carried me back home.

Once we made it inside the rain began to pour heavily, I ran up stairs jumping into bed, curling up in my blanket to watch the rain fall. I closed my eyes to listen to the sound hitting the windows and the roof...everything felt cozy, warm, in a crazy way to put it... everything felt perfect.

Coldness took over my entire body, I felt extremely uncomfortable, my body hurt all over.
The rain outside sounded lighter. I wanted to open my eyes but I couldn't bring myself to do so. I tasted a metallic taste in my mouth. I couldn't move.... All the feelings and memories I had was a dream... I know where I am.. I'm at the hospital.
I should have died and yet I'm alive...right? I think I am... the pain sure feels real.

I heard someone next to me let out a deep sigh... a familiar breath from a certain copy ninja.
I only had enough energy to turn my face towards the noise. I pulled my eyes open just enough to catch a blur of blue and white.
My throat felt raw, I don't think I could speak if I tried, and if I do try it would make things worse.
I wanted to move, to show any sign I was okay, but nothing was responding... I still felt tired, so tired.

"Kurapika is okay, he's awake but still resting."
A familiar voice spoke, I was just waking again.
I felt a bit better then the first time I woke.
"Good, she's still sleeping.... She should recover okay... it'll just take time." I heard Kakashi say
"Well Kurapika used a lot of chakra... she did as well but she has a terrible wound." I think this from Leorio.
"She lost a lot of blood...."
I felt Kakashi grab my hand. It was quiet I think leorio left, but I'm not sure. There were faint sounds of rain drops hitting the window...reminds me of my dream, no, memory... about my mother.

I think I feel asleep again, this time waking up I felt more in control of my body. The pain eased up more than before. I opened my eyes, the room was dark, I turned my head to the window where the moon shone brightly through the glass. Droplets of water stilled on the window as a reminder of the rain that had passed.
I felt my hair being gently combed, a faded feeling of my mother passed though me. I turned my head to see Kakashi staring intensely into me.
He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss to my forehead though his mask.
"I'm so glad you're alive." He said so quietly against my forehead I could barely hear him.
He leaned away, back into the chair keeping his hand on mine. His eyes were bloodshot, his hair a mess.

"How long have I been out?" My voice was scratchy and rough.
"A week..." he said lazily.
"A week!" I almost shot up if it wasn't for the pain that shot through my body. I winced in pain.
Kakashi stood up placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't do that, you'll only hurt yourself more..."
"I think I know that..." I tried saying sarcastically.

"What happened?" I continued.
"Well to quickly put it, Franklin is dead. Nobunoga fled with Mochi. And Hisoka went to fight Chrollo till he found out he couldn't use his chakra." Kakashi explained.
"What happened to Kurapika? And where did Chrollo go?"
"Kurapika is fine, he over did it with his chakra but he's gotten better and is with his friends... we have been switching out to watch over you..." he said, picking at the metal on the back of his glove.
His nervous tick.... I smiled to myself.

"And Chrollo?" I felt bad for asking again, but I wanted to know.
"Not sure... since Hisoka didn't fight with him they left in separate directions. So I'm not actually sure."
"I see, when can I leave here?" I asked.
"Whenever the nurse lets you." He smiled.
"And....then?"
He looked at me confused. "What do you mean? He asked.
I looked down at our hands, his covering mine.
"We go home?" I mumbled.
Why was I so nervous asking about us?
"Yeah.... We go home." He answered.
