"You have to be more careful!" Kurapika rambled on.
My hands held my face as my brother lectured me for the last hour. We have been waiting on Kakashi and Sakura while they went to the hotel to pack up our things."Kurapika..." I mumbled though my hands.
I peaked though my fingers at him...his lips thinned while he raised one of his eyebrows at me.
"Thank you.." I whispered.
"Oh.." His eyes widened before softening. "Of course, I would have done anything to keep you alive... I shouldn't have let you battle him alone." He admitted.
"It's not your fault Kurapika, I hate being weak..." I mumbled.
I looked away feeling ashamed that I wasn't able to beat him, or even injury him.
"Weak?! How can you say that? You just had your stomach sliced open and almost bled to death!" He almost shouted.
"Yeah but without you I would have died!"
"Makota.... Come with me?" He asked plainly."What?" I asked confused.
"I'm going to be leaving to find the eyes of our people and return it to them."
"Kurapika...."
"I'll train you," he said cutting me off. "So you can become stronger...you are already strong but you don't believe in yourself...." He stepped closer to me placing his hand on my shoulder.
I sat there in thought, if I go with him I'll be breaking up team 7 for sure. Not like there's much left of the team anyways. With Sasuke away with Orochimaru and Naruto with Jiraiya. Then there's Sakura training with Lady Tsunade.
"If I do go with you..." I paused as a thought of Kakashi passed though my mind. "It's just, I have some things I'll need to take care of back home..."
Kurapikas face held many emotions when I brought up home. He hasn't been there in 10 years.
"Well then, I guess we will go back to the hidden leaf village... and then leave in a couple days, once we have a plan." He stated.
A smile crept on my face. "Okay."We all stood at the gates of York new city, our bags on our backs and ready for our three day journey.
I let out a big sigh, a bit of pain formed down in my abdomen. I winced a little from the feeling.
"Let me carry your bags.." Kakashi spoke softly, reaching out to grab my stuff.
I took a small step backwards holding the straps of my bag. "No, no, I got it, really I'm okay." I said with a small smile.
"Well if you insist." He straightened.
He dropped his hands, you could see his lips forming a thin line though his mask.
"So we are all going back home hm?" He said looking at Kurapika.
My brother smiled, "Seems so."
And with that we began our journey home. Not much happened on the walk back to the village, my brother and I talked and laughed like we used to. Sakura joining in the conversation here and there. Kakashi however was quiet, more quite then usually. I wouldn't be able to talk to him about anything I wanted to, concerning us, with them around, even if my brother suspected something between us.
If there happened to be a time when everyone was asleep and we crossed paths during our night watch, maybe, just maybe I could have the courage to bring up the questions I had.It came time for us to take camp. Same as last time. One tent, yet now there were four of us.
"Well, we could do double sifts." Kakashi said looking around at us. "So how about this," he clasped his hands together, "first watch is Sakura and I, second is Kurapika and Makota."
Everyone nodded in agreement. I looked at Kakashi wanting to ask to have watch with him, but knew that wouldn't sound practical. But even if I wanted to speak out he didn't look at me, quickly he turned and started setting up the tent. Some reason I felt like maybe he was avoiding me..."So, I was thinking we could stay maybe 3 days then leave out. Does that give you enough time?" Kurapika whispered.
We laid in our sleeping bags, about a foot separating us.
"Um, yeah sure that's fine."
"Hey," he turned towards me. His eyes baring into mine. "If you change your mind, just tell me."
"No, no, I want to go with you, to travel, train. I haven't seen you for 10 years. I thought you weren't even alive. Of course I want to go with you!"
"What about-" he looked at the tent doors.
"About what?" I narrowed my eyes.
"You know?" He made the same look towards the door.
My heart felt like it started beating faster, was he talking about Kakashi? I didn't want this conversation, not yet.
"Nevermind." The side of his mouth pulling slightly into a smile. "Goodnight."The next day of our journey it was raining, we quickly made our way to the closest Inn which happened to take us almost the entire day to find one. By the time we made it there we were soaked! Kakashi talked to the guy behind the counter and got us three rooms. One for himself, one for Kurapika and then one for Sakura and I.
Still no chance to speak with him, I wasn't sure the next chance I had was going to be."So, what's the plan?" Sakura asked once the door to our room was shut.
"I'm sorry? What do you mean?" I asked.
I sat down on the bed, stripping my shoes and sock off to rub my tired feet.
"Is your brother coming back to live in the village?"
She asked sitting on the bed in front of me.
"Oh.." I sat there quietly for a moment, long enough for her to give me that 'are you going to answer me?' look."He's going to go out and find the rest of our clans eyes." I admitted.
"And you?" She asked raising one of her eyebrows.
"Me...oh I don't know..." I said falling back into the bed. Staring at the ceiling above me.
"I think I'm going to go with him. I mean.... I haven't seen him-I mean I thought he was dead! Going after the eyes of our clan was never really my goal... but it's his... our clan. He told me he would train me to... I mean, how could I not go, right?" I rambled.
"I think it would be great, Makota." She whispered.
I heard her lay down on the bed next to me and then sleep took me away.—————————-———*——————————-
Finally we saw the gates of Konoha.
"Home!" Sukura yelled.
"Iv got to report to lady Tsunade, so I'll see you in a while." Kakashi said glancing at me before walking away.
My heart skipped when his eyes met mine. But as quickly as he looked at me, he looked away.
"Well I'm going home, I'm glad you're okay Makota! I'll see you around okay!" Sakura exclaimed.
"Bye!" I replied.
"Alright! What do you want to do!" I asked Kurapika excitedly.
"I think you need to rest some more." He chuckled.
"I'd rather not.." I mumbled.
He laughed and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"Come on... I'm excited to see your home."
I giggled as we walked towards my apartment.I fumbled with the keys for a moment. I don't know why I was nervous. He was my brother there was nothing I should be worried about. I finally opened the door and we walked inside.
"So this is your home, huh?"
"Yup." I said popping the 'P' at the end.
"It's nice Makota, I'm glad you've made a home for yourself... and friends.. and um.." he paused and scratched the back of his head before continuing. "A um, boyfriend?"
My eyes widened, I opened and closed my mouth a few times before answering.
"He's not, I mean, I don't know... I'm.....not sure what's going on between us." I said honestly.
"Well.... You might want to figure it out before we leave... I want you to want to come with me." He said.
"I want to.... I do. I'll get things settled." I said with a smile. That night I slept hard. Knowing my brother was on the couch and we were home. Things weren't quite finished with the phantom troupe yet... I need to get stronger and thats what my brother offered me. I need to figure out what's going on with me and Kakashi before we leave.
