The weekend was spent brainstorming. They needed a plan to defeat Brian, a trap they could set for him. But it was proving more difficult than they thought and now it was Sunday afternoon.
"Okay, okay," Kent began as he held up his hands, "what if we lure him out into the woods and surround him like we did with what's-his-Hyde?"
"Booooooo!" Everyone shouted as they threw popcorn at him.
It's what they started to do when they didn't like an idea to bring a little fun into it. They were all currently in Wednesday and Enid's dorm, sprawled out in different spots in the room, all with their own individual bowls of popcorn.
"Okay! Okay!" Kent guarded his face from the kernels. After another second the onslaught stopped.
They went back to contemplative silence as Wednesday looked at her girlfriend. Karina had been oddly quiet ever since that phone call with her brother. Wednesday had tried to broach the subject yesterday after their duet practice, the pyro had been messing up a lot. But she was met with a dismissive "I'm fine". She tried to let it go, maybe Karina just needed some space. But it was twenty four hours later and the pyro managed to become even quieter, not having uttered a word since waking up. Wednesday noticed the bags under her eyes, but she didn't know what to say or do. She hated that she sucked at comfort, but she knew that she did. So, reluctantly, she pulled out her phone and texted the one person she knew could help Karina.
I don't think Karina's been sleeping and she hasn't said a single word today. Fix it.
Bianca felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out and furrowed her brows upon seeing Wednesday's name. She looked up at the goth girl across the room. Wednesday nodded at her phone, silently telling her to read it. The siren rolled her eyes but did. She then bit her lip in thought and looked at Karina who was hugging her legs to her chest. She had also noticed Karina's quietness lately and now that she looking at her she noticed the eye bags too. She knew it was because of the phone call with her brother, but honestly, she wasn't entirely sure what she could do outside offer words of comfort. And if all she was going to do was hug her and tell her it'll be okay, then she figured the pyro would prefer to have her girlfriend for that. Bianca responded:
I can only do as much as u can
And if she had to choose between us on who gives her comfort cuddles
I know she'd go with u
So just take her to her dorm, hold her, and assure her that we're going to figure this out
We'll focus on coming up with a planWednesday bit her lip. Would it really be that simple? She made eye contact with Bianca who nodded her head at Karina, silently telling her to go on.
Wednesday took a deep breath. "Karina, will come with me for a moment?"
The pyro looked at her curiously, but nodded nonetheless. Wednesday grabbed her hand and the two left while everyone (except Bianca) watched them confused. Thing waved them goodbye before crawling over to Enid.
Wednesday did as Bianca suggested and led her downstairs to her own dorm. They entered and Wednesday gently closed the door behind them. When she faced Karina again, she was already sitting on her bed with her back against the wall and her knees to her chest.
Wednesday approached gingerly. "I know you're struggling right now ... I wanted you to know I'm here for you ... for anything." She crawled onto the bed next to her. "I love you ... and we're going to figure this out." She wrapped her arms around Karina and pulled her into her side. "You can talk about it ... or not ... I'm right here."
Wednesday really hoped she did it correctly. Karina had completely relaxed into her side so she thought that was a good sign. She just held the pyro for ten minutes in complete silence. But then their position started to feel a little uncomfortable, so they shifted around so Wednesday was on her back and Karina was on top of her, resting her left cheek on her chest. Cloud slithered away from her neck and nestled on her back. This way Wednesday could cradle the back of Karina's head as she laid it on her chest. Another ten minutes passed, and then:
