Confusing Love

Ryan's secret

We sit down on the sand, his hand still in mine. He turns around to look at me, nervously.

''I didn't mean to hurt you'' He looks down at the golden sand beneath us. I put my hand on his shoulder ''Its fine, but I still don't understand why you did it''

He looks back up at me, and sighs. ''Did you know, I have a brother'' he mumbles. I'm shocked. ''A brother? Who is he, you've never mentioned a brother...'' I look out a the clear blue ocean, the warm weather making me sweat slightly.

''Hunter Daniels is my brother'' He says slowly. I gasp, not able to say anything. ''Well, my step brother actually. His dad married my mum a year ago. I hated him, he would always do things that my mum would be so proud of, and I would just disappoint her. So when he moved to our school, before I could tell you, I got sick and had to stay in the hospital for a week, and when I came back to school you were all dreamy about Hunter. I didn't tell anyone about him because he is so much better than I am, and people would compare us, and I didn't want that. Me and Hunter made a deal not to tell anyone. When you told me you had a crush on him, I just couldn't take it. But I had to deal with it for ages, and a few days ago I cracked'' He tears up and then shakes his head quickly, and looks out at the ocean, waiting for me to answer.

''I would of never compared you with him if you told me he was your step brother. And anyway, your so much nicer than him...and you saved my life when I was 14 years old, he didn't. And why didn't you want me to like Hunter?''
