Confusing Love

Ryan's angry

Emily's POV

The next day, I sat with Max at lunch again, he was the one who came out here and sat down next to me- as if sitting with me was normal.

I like his company, he makes me feel happy, and after my breakup with Ryan, i needed someone to make me feel happy.

Max isnt happy that im hanging out with Max and he's angry that im ignoring him, but i really didnt care. Ryan came up to me and Max at lunch the next day when me and Max were sitting under a tree laughing. "Leave" Ryan points at Max. Max immediently stops laughing and looks up at Ryan "Excuse me" Max says. I turn to look up at Ryan angrily, how dare he. "How about you leave, do not get angry at me because I'm hanging out with another guy, we broke up remember? and its not like you didnt have a girl roped around you in the morning" I say to Ryan angrily. He snarls at me and i shake my head. I get up and pull Max up with me, i grab Max's hand and storm off with him by my side. "Wow" Max sighs. I nod. I stop when i realise i was still holding his hand, and i drop his hand and keep walking with Max trailing behind me. "Are you okay" Max asks. I turn to stare at him "Yeah, of course i'm okay, why wouldnt i be?" i feel my lip tremble, and my eyes fill up with tears. He wraps his arms around my waist, and i bury my head into his shoulder. Tears were trickling down my cheeks and onto his shirt. He pulls away "Its okay, I'm here for you" he whispers, wrapping his arms back around my waist and pulling me in for another hug.

I knew he meant it, i knew he was serious about being there for me. But i don't know whether i could just be best friends with another guy. Especially after what happened between me and Ryan. I didnt want the same thing to happen with Max.

"Okay everyone, pick a partner for your assignment" The science teacher says. I felt a hand touch my shoulder , it was Max. I already knew it was Max even before i turned to look at him. "Partners?" he asks, his lips curling into a soft smile. "Sure, that would be great" I say, smiling back at him.

It would be great. For 2 reasons- The first reason was: I am not friends with anyone else in this class, and if he didnt offer to be my partner, i would be partnered up with the last person that didnt grab a partner quick enough. And reason number 2: It was Max, of course i wanted to be partners with him.
