I sat down on the couch and stared openly at nothing. I frowned thinking about what Barry had said. She died two weeks ago. My frowned deepened. The fallen attacked everyone. The last four words repeated in my head.

By the fallen did he me the fallen angels? I thought, Well of course, that was so obvious but...... I sighed and shook my head. I got up and walked to the other room. I slipped in the bed and fell asleep.

Saturday, January 23
6:13 a.m

I got off the bed and went to the bathroom next door. I brushed my teeth and gently combed my hair then walked to the kitchen and decided to make pancakes. It was Saturday so who wouldn't love pancakes on a Saturday morning? So I put on music and then started cooking.

Soon, the house was filled with the aroma of pancakes. I finished the last three pancakes and started making the hot chocolate. I sincerely disliked Coffee, but I loved hot chocolate.

I heard the door squeak so I looked to the right and watched Kyle come out the room with Lucy behind him. "Good morning." I saluted. They smiled and then sniffed. Their smiles widened and they ran to the table to be served. "Good morning." They sang, stretching the Good.

I smiled back at them and served them their pancakes and their hot chocolate. Once we settled down, I drank my chocolate and smiled at the deliciousness. I watched them do the same and I then knew that they finally accepted me. I smiled in achievement and started to devour my pancake. As I did, I looked down at my watch and read 7:15 a.m. dang it was early. I clicked my tongue and resumed with my hot chocolate.

We all ate in silence, for a while, then Kyle started talking:

"Belle, thank you for helping us." he said. I smiled and nodded.

They finished and I picked up their plates and took them to the sink. I went back and sat down, then resumed to my delicious hot chocolate. I heard a knock so I got up and walked to the door.

"Hey, I came as soon as you ended the call." Era said.

I nodded and hugged her. "Thank you, um they're in the kitchen drinking their hot chocolate." I whispered to her, "Let me introduce you to them first."

She nodded and followed me to the kitchen. "Hey guy's this is my mom, Era." I introduced.

They looked up at her timidly, but didn't flinch when she bent down in front of them. "Hi nice to meet you, what's your name." She asked the blonde preteen boy, Kyle, as she shook his hand.

"I'm Kyle." He answered, "Nice to meet you."

She smiled at him and looked over at Lucy. "What's your name honey?" She asked stretching her hand for Lucy to shake.

"Lucy." She boldly said, rejecting Era's hand. I frowned at her but decided to not say anything.

"Um well guys go brush your teeth." I said rushing them to the bathroom. Once they were gone I looked up at Era.

"Okay, tell me what happened."

I nodded and told her everything, starting at where I started driving (she got a bit annoyed at my behavior, but didn't say anything about it) and then finished off on what Kyle said last night.

"And you're sure he actually said the fallen attacked everyone?" My mom asked.

"Yeah that's why I called you." I said looking up at her, "What are we going to do? They said their mother is dead, so most likely their father is dead too."

"For now we'll take them home with us. I'll let them sleep in our guest room." She said, "tell them to go pack their bags."
