Madeline's POV
I started breathing really heavy and I knew an anxiety attack was on its way.
I ran and ran but soon I ended up into a bush.
I felt my pocket and realized my phone wasn't there.
"Maddie!" I heard that familiar voice yell.
David.
I ran farther up the hill that separated the city from his abandoned old house.
"You're not going to make it."
"He'll find you."
I closed my eyes and prayed.
I can get through this.
I can get through this.
Minutes later I heard the sound of cars and the sight of traffic ahead.
"Businesses" I muttered under my breath.
I reached into my pocket.
Looks like David forgot his credit card.
I walked with my head down trying to keep the wind out of my face.
That didn't work considering I bumped into another person.
"I'm sorry" I muttered.
"You should be." An Australian accent struck my ears.
I looked up to be face to face with Calum.
"Maddie?"
"What are you doing here?"
"I tried to visit my mom at the hospital," he said, his voice getting harder to hear towards the end.
"Is she okay?" I managed to cough out.
"She isn't with us" he rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry Ca-" he cut me off.
"Don't be," he said through gritted teeth.
"Why are you here?"
"My dad kidnapped me," I said muttering.
"What?" His forehead crinkled in confusion.
"Want to explore?" I stated.
"Where to?"
"Anywhere with you." I smiled.
