Gem's Perspective-

The next morning, Gem was eating with Anthony in the dining hall.

That's when she heard it.

King Everett walked past the room, talking loudly and boasting to the guards as he headed outside.

"What's that about?" Gem asked.

Anthony shrugged, "I heard that someone stopped in the village last night. I'm pretty sure Everett's going to the dungeon to say hello."

Gem sprung up and banged her fist on the table, "We need to see them!"

"Well not now!" Anthony hissed, "Not with Everett down there. We'll go when he comes back."

Gem sank back down into her seat and stared at her half-eaten pancakes.

"I know my brother's searching for me...oh, I hope he didn't get caught." Gem groaned.

She then pushed her away her plate and got up, "You can finish up, I'm going to my room."

"Did you send the letter?" Anthony asked.

Gem nodded, "Yesterday; I don't know if he got it though."

And she left.

Gem walked up to the room and grabbed her journal.

'Hello.

I have sent the letter to fWhip, and I pray that he has read it.

Today I was welcomed with some horrifying news.

Last night, someone landed in Frost Ford and was captured. They are now in the dungeon with Oli.

I hope it's not fWhip or anyone I know.

If it is, I hope that they don't blow my cover and lie with me.

I'm going to visit them later today and see who it is.

Right now, Everett is down there.

He's also figured out how to use my wand to speak to animals and sent an owl after my brother. I overheard him the other day saying that if fWhip didn't send a letter by today, he'll resort to torture. I'm pretty sure he sent a letter to fWhip, threatening to harm me if he didn't give him answers.

I hope fWhip lied. Or at least stretched the truth. I also hope he got my letter.

I can't write to him much anymore, but I hope he will reply.

Just once.

I think Everett assumes that Anthony will stop me from sending letters, but he doesn't. He understands me. He doesn't want to be here either, but he can't leave.

He said his family grew up here and that even if he had the option, he wouldn't leave.'

"Gem."

Gem looked up and saw Anthony.

"Everett's on his way back. We can go now."

Gem smiled and got up.

She grabbed the photo of her with her brother (she likes to keep it with her) and left.

Katherine's Perspective-

"GET UP!"

Katherine shot up in a cold sweat.

She was gasping for breath.

"W-where am I?" She asked the guard who was banging on the cell door.

The guard's face turned into a cold snarl, "The king's here. He wants to ask you some questions."
