Seokjin was standing at the coffee station waiting for his extra strong brew to be ready when suddenly a group of female coworkers came in. He acknowledged then with a polite smile before he continued looking at the pot with his arms crossed across his chest. Of course when he gave that polite smile his coworkers smiled extra bright, after all, it wasn't always that they saw Kim Seokjin in the shared break room.
"It's your Mister Right, Ae Ri." One of the women whispered very inconspicuously to her friend.
"Stop that! He could hear you!" The presumed Ae Ri whispered back to her friend, a faint slap could be heard as she said that.
Jin looked diligently at the coffee pot as if it was the post important thing in the world, he really disliked it when people gawked at him like that. Well not that he disliked it more like it made him very embarrassed. He'd rather not hear it himself, what if this girl approached him and he had to shoot him down?
And right on cue he felt a tap on the shoulder. Seokjin turned around and behind him was a petite pretty girl. She had chocolate-y brown hair almost shoulder length, fair skin, heart shaped lips and doe like eyes. She was pretty. This must be the Ae Ri he hadn't fully noticed when the group had walked in.
"Um, Kim-sunbae, do you mind if I have a cup of whatever you're drinking?" She asked, catching Jin the slightest bit off guard. He was cool though, he had dealt with this type of situation several times.
"Not at all." He smiled, moving to the side so she could pour her own cup first. It was a strategic move, by extending her the courtesy of having the first taste he would still seem like a gentlemen. Why not pour it for her then? Well if Seokjin poured the cup for her it would seem as though he was flirting and well, he didn't want her to get any wrong ideas.
"Uh thank you!" Ae Ri thanked as she poured herself a cup of coffee. "Wow sunbae, I didn't know you drank such a strong brew." She said in an attempt to make casual conversation.
Jin groaned internally but the smile he had on his face still remained. A little flirting was harmless but he really really didn't want that at this moment or for the foreseeable future. What should he say?
"There's lots of work to be done, got to stay alert." He continued to smile. He was just giving an explanation nothing more, nothing to lead to more casual banter right? But he could still feel Ae-Ri's friends stealing glances at him as they 'talked' in a little circle.
"Ah, you're stressed out Kim-sunbae?" The girl asked. "You have to take it easy, if you ever need to wind down with a drink I'm always down." She beamed, making Jin's face heat up. She was really going in for the kill.
How should he approach?
It was funny, he was already 31 and yet he still got flustered when a girl asked him out. More over he didn't exactly know how to respond even though he had all this experience. It was odd, as if he felt that his actions were being scrutinized by someone other than the women in this room. This reminded him of something, oddly enough.
Jin let out a dry chuckle, that was his most appropriate response. Dry chuckles, they indicated no amusement, as if he was forcing himself but trying to be polite. He was trying to make it awkward and when he snuck a glance at Ae-Ri's face he could tell it was working.
"Ah, I'm taking a break from drinking..." he lied sheepishly, trying to remember what this situation reminded him of.
I should probably follow through with this regardless.
"I made a promise to myself...for someone." Jin added in that last part without even thinking. It just rolled off his tongue, shocking him in spite of himself.
