Selene's POV

It was another day here on Dragon's Edge and for some reason, my boyfriend was dragging us out to a part of the mountain. We were all groaning at the hike, but I didn't really mind it. "Okay, Hiccup, you dragged us all the way up here," Astrid told the boy. "Now, what is it you have to show us? It better involve food or destruction," Tuff told the boy as he fixed his helmet. Hiccup was digging for something in Toothless's saddle bag. "I bet you're wondering why I brought you here today. And the answer is to show you my latest invention," Hiccup then pulled out a machine of some kind and called it the 'dragonfly one' and I was just confused. None of us were amused, as Hiccup kept messing with part of it, trying to get his point across. Tuff then raised Chicken in his left hand, who was clucking. "The chicken is not amused," and to prove his point, Chicken clucked again before jumping off Tuff's hand. "What is it?" Snotlout asked the boy. "It's a flight suit," Hiccup revealed as he waved it around, the wings now out. "Don't all applaud at once." He spoke with sarcasm. "I don't need to remind you, Hiccup, that we already have flying dragons. Why would we ever need a flight suit?" Fishlegs asked the boy as he gave Meatlug a scratch. Hiccup then told us that if we ever got separated mid-flight, we might have to glide alone till we caught up with them as he put on the suit. I walked over and inspected it, now semi interested. "This is interesting, babe. But wouldn't it be easier to make a smaller version built into our clothes?" I asked him as I messed with the fabric.

Hiccups didn't have time to answer, thanks to Snotlout. "When this doesn't work and clearly it won't, can I have Toothless?" He asked with his arms crossed. Toothless growled at the boy and I nodded for Crystal to hit him in the head. She agreed happily and whacked him in the head with her tail. "Oh, for Thor's sake," Hiccup groaned as well and walked over to the edge of the cliff. Astrid walked over and stood next to me as we looked at each other with worry and confusion. "What are you planning on doing?" Astrid asked my lover. "Jumping. Unless someone has a better idea," was Hiccup's answer. I just sighed and put a hand to my head. "Boys," I groaned and Astrid, and Crystal nodded in agreement. "I don' t do stupid stuff like this," Toothless groaned while glaring at his rider. Crystal walked over to him and nuzzled under his head, trying to cheer him up. "Guys, relax! Feel that updraft?" Hiccup asked us as the wind starting to kick in. "That's why I chose this place. It'll pick up my wings and I'll be floating on air," Hiccup told us while lowering a lever on his suit, making most on the wings pop up. One however, was stuck. He chuckled in embarrassment, while trying to fix the wing. "Or crashing on a bed of rock," Snotlout stated his opinion and I just sighed. Hiccup growled at the boy, now haveing his suit fixed. He then told us to be prepared to be amazed and jumped off, and plummeted. "Hiccup!" I shouted and ran to the edge of the cliff. Luckily, Toothless jumped down and catches his best friend, but results were both crashing into the water down below. "I don't know about you guys, but I was under the impression that a flight suit was supposed to fly," Tuff stated, while put a hand on his chin. "Yeah, that looks more like a plummet suit," Ruff added her opinion. The others came over to the edge with me and saw Hiccup and Toothless getting to shore. "Do it again," Ruff chuckled. I just glared at her and she backed up. Everyone has learned that my glare is more terrifying than a Whispering Death's 90% of the time.

After a while, Hiccup came back, claiming to have made a few tweaks. "Now behold some serious flying," he told us and lifted his wings. He than ran towards the edge and jumped off, he actually got a few yards of air before plummeting again. "I'm on it," Toothless groaned and jumped after Hiccup. We all ran to the edge to see Toothless wrap his wings around Hiccup, then crashing into the water. "If he keeps crashing like this, I'm gonna tear that thing apart," I grumbled and everyone agreed with me on that. After a while, again, Hiccup came back with a pouting Toothless. The Night Fury immediately walked over so he was standing next to Crystal and myself. "I'm done with getting wet," Toothless grumbled. Crystal purred and licked his head. "Now this time, I absolutely know where I went wrong. It's all in the timing. I judged the updrafts wrong. I assure you, I definitely have it now," the one-legged Viking told us. Toothless growled at Hiccup from his place. "Don't worry, bud. I've got this under control," Hiccup told the dragon and continued his walk to the edge. "That's what you've said every time!" Toothless hissed at his rider. But, Hiccup was right about the updrafts. It kicked in pretty fast and he jumped off. He started to plummet again, but regained his balance and really started flying. He was cheering at his success and we all watched him. "I cannot believe that hunk of junk actually worked!" Snotlout spoke was disbelief in his voice. Hiccup was getting further along in the ravine and tried to turn but, his suit was acting up again. "Toothless!" Hiccup shouted. Toothless immediately started to glide towards Hiccup. I quickly got on Crystal and we flew after them. I saw Hiccup was about to crash into some trees on the other side, but since I was over him, I jumped off Crystal and tackled my boyfriend into the water. After regaining our composures', we started to swim up to the surface. We saw two big splashes and saw Crystal and Toothless. They swam to us and helped me haul Hiccup to the shore. Once we made it, Hiccup started coughing out the extra water. "Thanks for the save, guys," Hiccup thanked us. Toothless and Crystal just sprayed four jugs worth of water at Hiccup. "Whoa!" He shouted and I just laughed alongside the dragons. I helped Hiccup stand as he grabbed a broken off piece of his flight suit. "Looks like our flight tests are over for the day," Hiccup spoke and I slapped him upside the head as the other riders landed in front of us. "You're done with this!" Astrid scolded Hiccup as he rubbed his head where I hit him. "Right, for now." Then, a familiar roar ran throughout the ravine. "What was that?" Astrid asked and Fishlegs answered that it was probably a dragon in distress. "Guys, something about that call seems strangely familiar," Snotlout started, but I was already on Crystal's back in the air.
