It was now raining, and we were all sitting on the porch of the Chateau. Well, Kiara and Pope were sitting, and Sarah, JJ, and I were leaning against things. I was right next to JJ, holding his hand. "I'm gonna testify under oath. I was there." Sarah explains. "I just need to get a hold of my sister."
"Sister?" JJ mutters, he looks absolutely tired of everything right now.
"Kie, do you have your phone?" Sarah puts her hand out, waiting for a response. Kiara doesn't even look at the blonde when she hands over the phone, which Sarah quickly snatches. "Wheezie is the only other person the knows Rafe wasn't home that day."
"Wheezie?" JJ asks in disbelief. I mean, who names their kid Wheezie, psychos, clearly.
"I don't know what else to do. I got us into this mess. I'm gonna do my best to get us out." Sarah explains. She was speaking louder and faster and I could tell she was getting very piped up. She quickly runs inside to call her sister and JJ scoffs.
"Wheezie? Yeah, that'll work." I give his hand a soft rub with my thumb but he shakes our hands away completely. My face goes red with embarrassment and a tinge of pain. He's just mad, he didn't mean it. JJ doesn't even look down at me as he continues to talk. "Well, she's right about one thing. We gotta do something. Our boy, is a PO- dub right now, okay?" He looks directly at Kiara while he says this, then at Pope. Not at me. You're just overreacting, that's what I tell myself. Calm the fuck down and get a grip. Right now we need to help John B. "He's held captive by the enemy right now, maybe even scheduled for execution. Are we just gonna sit here!" He boils over, his face red and his expression hard.
"What's the plan?" Kiara stands up, yelling right back, "We kidnap Shoupe?"
JJ shrugs, "Maybe, that's not like the worst idea, actually."
"Oh, it's not?" Kiara tilts her head.
"No!" JJ shrugs again.
"That is actually the worst idea I've ever heard," Pope tells the blonde.
"I second that," I mutter, looking off at the rain. I feel JJ's gaze on me but he quickly looks away.
"It's pretty bad!" Sarah says from the open window behind us.
JJ rolls his eyes, turning around to look at her. "You know? Please just stay out of this." JJ yells.
"Don't yell at her! At least she has a plan." I glare at JJ and then walk over to the chair Kie was previously sitting in.
"Okay... Pope, look, we've been doing everything your way, and how has that been working out?"
"Okay," Pope stands up, "So what's your plan? Are you gonna storm a jail? Guns ablaze?" JJ stands up, to tower over the boy in front of him.
"Look, Pope. All I'm trying to get you to understand is they got our boy." There was a pause while everyone let those words sink in. "Are we just gonna sit here and do nothing? No! We're gonna go get his ass. We're gonna do something about it!" I flinch at his unexpected rise in voice level.
"JJ, we're not storming a jail, it's not happening," Pope tells the blonde.
JJ shrugs, still clearly pissed, "No, fine, man. Sit in your comfy chair. Do nothing. I'm gonna see what I can do. Make something happen, even if I have to do it myself." JJ flips his hat on his head, pulling his hair back.
"Okay." Kiara sighs. Right after that, JJ storms out the porch doors, and my first thought was to go right after him, right into the pouring rain.
"Jay!" I call out, making him stop in his tracks. He turns back to look at me, water dripping all over him, we're both soaked now.
