The ocean was cold as it reached towards your feet.
If a human were to sit here, partially submerged in the water, they'd be shivering from the clear liquid drenching their clothes.

Yet here you sat, waiting to catch the brilliant sunrise as every day.

"What do you think of us?"
It was a simple question really, yet Jasper's voice said it unexpectedly, echoing in your mind.
It caught you off guard.

"What do you mean by that?"
You asked, lifting your hand to cares your own cheek, brushing your thumb against the gem replacing your nose.

"Do you think that, we're perfect together?"
Hands wrapped around your torso in a comforting selfhug.

"Of course i do."
The hands squeezed.

"What brought this up my love?"
You asked, gently running a hand through those wonderfully fluffy hair.

"C-can we-"
You felt Jasper let go, in that moment you helt yourself separate from her.
Your forms glowed and now two gems stood, where just moments before, there was just one.

Looking up to her, you noticed her beautiful amber eyes seemed glossy in the bright light of the sunrise.
You've never seen her like this.
Never seen her this, sad?

You reached you hand to her.
"Jasper? What brought this up?"
You asked her again, tucking away some hair.

She stood back at your touch.
"I... I'm not- good enough. I've done nothing but harm to all of your friends... Lapis, Period, Amethyst, Garnet, Pearl... Steven..."

"Jas"

"I know what you're going to say. We did it because the diamonds ordered us to. But l... I can't help but think..."
She looked down, stray tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Jasper"
You stepped closer to her.

"I should have realized sooner... I should have joined rose quartz back then, maybe- maybe things could have been different-"
She looked back up.

"A-and i- I was terrible to you the first time. I made you be apart of something as sickening and toxic as-"

"JASPER"
You grabbed her hands to snap her out of her rambling.
Her amber eyes snapped back at you.

"Do you think that if I hated you, I would marry you?"

You held her left hand and placed your own on top.
Your rings glistened in the sun.

"I- no, i... no. You wouldn't"

You looked up to her.
"Do you think that if I hated you, that I would want to form (F/n) with you?"

Jasper's hair blew in the soft breeze.
She looked towards the rising sun.
"No, you would not"

"Do you know why I did?"
You asked caressing her hand and smiling up at her.

Jasper stayed silent, quietly mumbling.
"no"

You gently turned her head towards you.
"Because I love you Jasper".

Jasper's eyes gleamed, tears no longer staining her golden lit face.

"I love you and I always will"

"You've brought something to my days that I could never stand to lose.
I cannot imagine a thousand years without you"
You squeezed her hands.

"All of my life I've served the diamonds, but the few years here on earth have shown me who I truly am and with who I truly wish to be"
You looked up to her, smiling at her, adoring her, loving her and everything she had became.

And she did the same.
She looked at you with eyes filled with nothing but love and affection.

"Before. A year was like a second to me.
Now, I feel like every second with you is like a gift bestowed upon me by the diamonds"

Golden light enveloped the both of you, just as the two of you became one once again.

"We complete one another"
I held a hand to my gems, caressing them lightly.

As you walked through the Beta kindergarten, the orange sandstone walls loomed over you.
Jasper held your hand, fingers intertwined together.

"I never understood why Rose Quartz wanted to preserve the earth... But now, after experiencing the Earth's true beauty... I understand"
She held her head up, looking up at the azure blue sky.

"The earth, the organics, the plants that you make. It's all so beautiful and unique"

You couldn't help but smile at her words.
As the years passed, Jasper got to know the earth more. She began to truly appreciate the beauty that you yourself learned to see here.

She has thought herself to be kinder, gentler, especially when it came to working with plants when you were fused as (F/n).

Jasper stopped in her tracks.
You looked up at her, snapping away from your thoughts.

Jasper stared up, her expression clearly upset, but not angry.
Saddened, but tearless.
Ashamed,  but proud.

The orange molten glass-like wall reflected in the golden light of the sun.
"I came out of there, fists above my head, ready for battle, ready to get shattered"

"Jasper. I know you feel bad about where you came from. But it isn't your fault"
Jasper looked at you, her eyes looked at you in absolute adoration.

"Thank you (g/t).
She looked back up at the hole that she had came out of all those years ago.
" I can't even imagine where I would be without you. You were in my life since it's beginning. And you were so perfect, even back then"

You couldn't help but blush at her words.
But the warm feeling of her complement went away as fast as it came.

"I'd argue with that my dear"
You looked down sadly.

"Your kindergarten is filled with the warm light of the sun. While mine is ripped of all the warm light of the nearest star.
Only cold wind and the freezing ocean is thriving here"

You now stood in front of your own exit hole.
The glossy stone on the sides reflecting nothing but gray rock.

"I came out of there saluting, ready to devote my existence to serve the diamonds"
You looked down, ashamed of what you had took part in most if your life.

Jasper lifted up your chin, giving you a gentle smile.
"It was never your choice, you were expected to do that... But now you are choosing for yourself. You chose to break loose of that"

She leaned down, giving you a gentle kiss on your lips.

You smile lightly.
"Thank you Jasper"

A/n - this is going to be a one time thing (probably).
I just had a thought about how Jasper would change after many, many years....

Okay bye.
