The Police arrived and stormed the building, arresting every last man, the ninja made sure to count that they'd gotten each of them with Kai's help. An ambulance came too, checking over Kai, cleaning his wounds, and giving advice about taking care of himself.

As much as Kai's little emotional breakdown had reassured the others he was going to be ok, he had yet to speak a single word.

Kai sat on the edge of the ambulance's doorstep, calming his breath, watching the police lights pulse red and blue, rubbing the fabric of Lloyd's gi between his fingers. What was he going to say? Obviously the police were going to ask him for a statement, and then the others would want to know at least how he got into the whole mess but... Kai just didn't have the words for it.

"It just happened, ok!?" Kai rehearsed saying in his mind, but he felt like a jerk for even thinking about saying it like that so he scrapped it and instead started thinking about how he could possibly get away with staying silent the rest of the night.

It's not that he couldn't talk or anything, but he didn't want to. He felt small as is, and having a gag in his mouth for hours on end seemed to make his voice feel small too. He just felt pathetic right now, and all he wanted to do was to go back to a nice warm home with mum and dad waiting to give him all the love he'd missed out on.

But he would never get that. He knew, of course, but for most of the time he was trapped, he needed a place to run away to in his mind, and that's where his mind had taken him. Actually, his whole life it had always been his happy place. But now more than ever, realising it was really just a dream, and a never to be reality, he felt miserable, and honestly, crushed.

As if he'd tell someone that, though.

Nya came over and jumped up onto the ledge of the ambulance next to Kai.

"How... how are you feeling?" Nya asked quietly. Kai slowly looked up at her from the concrete. Although he knew that Nya was older now, and didn't need Kai to be strong for her, he had never felt comfortable being vulnerable around her. He knew his voice would sound terrible, and he did not want Nya to hear him in that state.

Lloyd would probably be the best for this, he thought. Of course he also wanted Lloyd to think of him as strong, a person of safety, undefeatable, but he couldn't forget that relationships only work if it goes both ways.

Kai pretended to open his mouth to speak, to make Nya think he had considered talking to her, but shook his head. Nya deflated a little. She edged closer and put her hand on Kai's.

"I know. I'm your little sister no matter how old we grow. I've known you my entire life, you're not going to let me see you in pain as long as you can help it." Nya said. After a long pause, she sighed, and Kai looked at her again. They looked into each other's eyes for a moment, reading each other better than anyone else could. She gave Kai a little smug smile and jumped back off the ledge. "I'll go get Lloyd..."

Unfortunately right as Nya had left, some police officers came up to Kai and started questioning him, and he was left on his own to deal with them. He panicked a little, biting his lip and slowly sliding off the edge of the ambulance, rummaging through what he could possibly do on the spot. The police officers looked between each other.

"What's going on? What do you need from Kai?" Lloyd asked as he jogged up to Kai's side. The officers stood straight again, happy they had someone to answer their question.

"We just want Kai's statement on the situation, what happened, how'd he get taken, things like that," The first officer tapped his clipboard with a pen. Lloyd thought about it and looked at Kai. Kai gave him a fleeting look. He really didn't want to do this now.

Sure, he would do it. He'd have to. There wasn't a way to get out of it anyway, but god, right now? He just wanted to go home.

Lloyd turned back to the officers.

"I'm sorry, is it possible to do it later? Kai isn't up to it right now, and we all kind of just want to go home," Lloyd says, speaking for Kai. The police officer gives him an understanding smile.

"Yeah, we get that, we can arrange to do this later. Do you think tomorrow will be ok? Or would you like some more time?" Kai knew the question was for him despite the officer looking at Lloyd.

All he needed was enough time to feel safe again, but he also didn't want to get all comfortable and happy and then have to ruin it by thinking back.

Kai gave a small nod to the officers, and Lloyd came closer and took Kai's hand.

"Sure, Nya or I will probably come in with Kai tomorrow. Just give us a call,"

"Alright, look after each other, we'll see you tomorrow," The second officer replied, leading him and the other officer away.
