Part 16

They crashed through the doors of the police station, startling the two officers near the front desk.

"Where is he!?" Nya shouted in desperation, the others still trying to catch their breath behind her. The officers shared a defeated glance and looked to the floor, Nya instantly knew what that meant.

"We're sorry, he left as soon as he woke up, we tried to stop him but--"

"I know. He's my brother, the idiot's hiding." Nya growled. She turned and walked straight through the others and the doors. They jumped out of the way and gave tired looks to each other. Lloyd looked to the floor.

More than anything right now, he wanted to hug Kai. To tell him that he was sorry.

It was all his fault.

Lloyd found a sob growing in his throat but he gulped it down.

Wu sighed and signalled to the ninja to go without him. Lloyd stayed put, having been looking at the floor. Wu thought that best and placed his hand on Lloyd's shoulder.

Lloyd looked up and Wu gave him a reassuring smile, turning them away from the doors. Lloyd looked painfully over his shoulder but sighed and crossed his arms, allowing Wu to lead him forward.

"May I ask for the details of what happened while Kai was here?" Wu asked. The policeman perked up at the question and nodded to the woman beside him and turned back to Wu.

"Yes, we can, take a seat,"

"Has his location updated? Surely he would've accidentally connected to some signal towers right?" Jay asked desperately, trying to keep hope alive in the group. They were walking down the street; having no clue where to look for Kai, they weren't rushing anywhere in particular.

"I can look again but I wouldn't bet on it..." Zane droned from the front.

Jay sighed and looked at Nya walking beside him. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"He probably just went home, right?"

"That's not something he would..." Nya trailed off in thought.

Suddenly, Zane stopped in his tracks, making Cole crash into him.

"Woah hey, what's up?" Cole rubbed his head. Nya stopped too with a little gasp.

"His location has updated! It says he was last seen 19 minutes ago in the southeast corner of the city!" Zane exclaimed, turning around to them with a smile. Jay grimaced.

"And how exactly is that helpful? 19 minutes ago!? He could be anywhere else by now!" Jay complained and Cole shoved him in response.

"He did go home..." Nya breathed. Everyone turned to her.

"Huh?" Cole looked at the others to make sure he wasn't the only one who hadn't heard her.

Nya looked up with a hopeful expression.

"Kai went home!" Nya cried and ran down the street.

"Woah-- Nya!! Wait!!" Jay stumbled after her, and so did the others.
