Tormented Rescue (Ninjago Fanfiction)

Part 22

Lloyd had finally let out his true thoughts and feelings to Kai. Kai and Nya had finally come to an agreement about being more open. Kai had finally made the decision to change the way he acted.

Over the next few weeks, all of the ninja along with Wu and Pixal made sure to help Kai in any way they could. Wu let Kai spend more time in the downstairs garage with Pixal, working on mechs rather than training, but only while Kai's wounds healed.

Kai came to Wu whenever he felt he needed to be centred again-- brought back to the present and let go of memories. Sometimes Wu would take Kai away himself, help him come back to the monastery, and live peacefully with the flashbacks and scars.

The ninja made sure to not mention what had happened unless the conversation came around to it, they knew Kai preferred to forget about it, especially while he was with them. They treated him the same way as before, only slightly more careful about touching him and being loud. They made sure he knew that they were all there for him if he needed them.

Kai and Nya spent a lot of time together. Just small things, like chatting anytime they could, and sitting beside each other at every opportunity.

But they'd also sit on the Destiny's Bounty's deck together, just talking about whatever came to mind. About the others, about recent Ninjago news, dreams they'd had; but most often they'd just sit in silence. Very rarely did either one bring up anything to do with the incident, but if they did, they wouldn't skim over it. Nya made sure Kai wouldn't leave anything out, and Kai made sure Nya wasn't covering anything; both comforted each other with hugs and peaceful jokes.

And Kai and Lloyd.

Kai and Lloyd sleeping together became the regular, nobody questioned it. Just being alone in the daytime, even if it were just in the bathroom, made Kai feel uneasy, sleeping alone would've been impossible for him; but he didn't say that.

Kai and Lloyd would sit outside on the deck of the monastery any time they needed to talk, they didn't want to associate going into their rooms alone with talking about serious things. With the fresh air and peacefulness, it also helped Kai feel safer again in the dark.

Nya was the best at seeing the signs that Kai needed a breather, and Lloyd would be the best to calm him down. Nya would signal to Lloyd and he would take Kai away for a moment or two, making sure he was ok and knew where he was.

Eventually, after almost 4 weeks, Kai came to Wu and told him that he was ready to finish his statement. Wu called the police with Kai and helped him schedule a time to go down to the station with Nya.

All that was left, was to tell Nya.
