TW: (mention of) kidnapping/abduction

The others had called around to people who Kai might've gone to or to who could've seen or heard from him, but almost everyone answered that the trashy articles and news reports were the most they knew about anything to do with Kai now.

By now all the ninja were worried. It had been an entire hour since they found Kai gone. Nya hadn't stopped pacing around in front of the computers since they stopped calling people. Everyone stayed out of her way when they saw she was more angry than worried, but Jay still attempted to calm her down with rubbish jokes whenever he saw her on the verge of imploding.

Lloyd sat at the table, his head in his hands, trying not to let the tears fall.

He wasn't going to cry. He was not going to cry.

He sighed shakily and brought his hands down to the table, trying his best to collect his thoughts, to keep himself together. If he didn't seem terrified about Kai's whereabouts to the others, then hopefully they wouldn't panic as much as Nya had.

"I think we should go out there. Look for him," Cole suggested from the opposite end of the table. Lloyd looked up at him, noticing a glisten in Cole's eyes. Lloyd nodded weakly.

"Yeah... you're... you're right..." Lloyd whispered under his breath.

That would mean that they'd have to split up, look all over the city, thinking about the places Kai could've possibly gone to, that is, if he wasn't... taken.

The word echoed in Lloyd's mind. Letting Kai walk out a door was one thing, but not noticing when he was being kidnapped?

Forget forgiveness, Lloyd wouldn't sleep for the rest of eternity.

Lloyd shook away his emotions and tried to focus on a plan.

Nya would probably go to Ray and Maya, they didn't have a phone so they weren't able to contact them to find out whether they had seen Kai or if he had gone to them. And they knew that having no contact was on Kai's wishlist. They had tried to call Kai's phone multiple times from each of their phones, but it didn't even ring. It went straight to his voicemail.

The first time they called, Kai's voice struck all of their hearts like a warm guitar. Obviously, his voicemail had his voice from before his capture, and it had sounded so...

Normal.

'Yo! You've reached Kai Smith's phone! My phone ahaha. Leave a message for me and I'll be sure to ignore it!'

Lloyd almost slipped up and sobbed on the spot and Nya ran off downstairs. Kai's innocent voice rang with such confidence, it hurt all of them when they realised that Kai would never be the same again. The others gulped down their feelings too. Wu slowly started shaking his head and muttering about something as he followed Nya downstairs, and they all followed too.

Everyone had their ringtone set to the loudest setting, in case Kai called back, though Nya still checked her phone every 5 minutes. Multiple times, Lloyd saw her clench her fists and almost throw her phone across the room, but either she would stop herself, or Jay would run over and hold her hand.

Lloyd stood up with Cole, and took a breath, about to start discussing with the others about pairing up to go around the city when--

A shouting ringtone broke the tense silence-- Lloyd's ringtone.

Everyone jolted awake from their nervous worries and stared around, recovering from their heart attacks, not believing the sound. When they were all able to shake themselves out of their shock, they all ran up to Lloyd.

"Who is it!?" Nya shouted, looking as though she was about to shake Lloyd senseless if he didn't find his phone that instant. Lloyd stumbled with his phone, as he yanked it out of his pocket.

They all held their breath, tears pricked at their eyes, hearts beating a million miles a minute. Lloyd looked at the screen with hopeful eyes, keeping it low so everyone else could see it too.

But the number on the screen wasn't Kai's. And hopefully had nothing to do with Kai. The sight of 111 sent shivers down their spines, and the tension grew thicker.

Lloyd hesitantly answered the call and placed it on speaker.

"Hello...?" Lloyd asked in the loudest voice he could manage at that moment, which was barely louder than a whisper.

"Hello, is this Lloyd Garmadon?" A woman's voice spoke on the other end of the line. Lloyd bit his lip, his breath caught in his throat.

"Yes, and friends too," Jay talked into the phone, helping Lloyd keep the phone steady. Lloyd shook all over from nerves. He hoped on everything that whatever this was, it wasn't bad.

"Ah ok, well, I'm calling to tell you that Kai Smith came to the station earlier today to give his statement on his four-day capture, but he passed out from what we think was stress. We ask you to come to take him home to rest," The lady's voice was the only stable thing filling the air. Everyone was uneasy from what she'd just said.

Kai went... alone...? Nya felt anger boil in her heart. Kai had promised her, Kai had said that she was going to go with him. Finally, she would've been able to help Kai but no, of course not, why would it be that easy?

"Oh-- uh-- ok uh, yes, ok-- we'll-- we'll uh-- be there in... a few minutes then," Wu managed to speak for everyone.

"We await you," The lady answered calmly. It was as if she couldn't feel the tension through the phone.

When Lloyd dismissed the call, everyone stayed silent, gathering their thoughts.

Jay gulped, looking up at the others who had similar stunned expressions. Cole looked a little defeated and Zane and Pixal seemed very concerned. Wu had his eyes closed, obviously deep in thought.

"He went alone," Nya squeaked behind her teary eyes. Her hands scrunched into fists again.

"He went alone..." Lloyd echoed blankly, slowly sliding his phone back into his pocket. Jay noticed Nya start to shake, though a little too late. He was about to grab her hand-- but she was off.

"AGHHHHH!! KAI!!!" She screamed and sprinted towards the elevator, jumping down and skipping almost the entire staircase. The others didn't hesitate to follow her.
