The next morning, I went to the administration office to submit the forms for our classes. I practically ran to the office because the class forms were supposed to be submitted yesterday evening. When I arrived at the office, I carefully fixed my ponytail and my attire before knocking on the door. If there wasn't anyone inside the office, I wouldn't be surprised at all because it's literally 6.15 in the morning. Back in the Isle, the administration office wouldn't be opened until it was at least 12 in the afternoon.
So when the door was opened, I was pretty shocked to see there was someone inside the office. But the person opening the door was the first prince of Auradon and the person I tried to avoid. "Good morning." Brayden looked questioningly at me before inviting me in.
He motioned me toward a seat in front of him and he turned around to pour a drink for himself. Then he turned to me and asked, "Would you like something to drink? I got coffee, tea, and water."
"No, thank you." I declined his offer, slightly fidgeting in my seat. For some reason, I felt as if he could see through everything. Then, as Brayden sat down in his seat, I took the forms out of my bag and gave them to him, "These are the forms Doug told us to fill in. Have a look."
He took the forms and skimmed through the paper one by one before staring back at me, "But aren't you supposed to be sending this yesterday? I'm sure Doug already informed you that."
Shoot. "Of course he does. But there was a sudden ... incident happened. So, I only get to send in the forms today." I replied calmly, ignoring his intense gaze.
He raised an eyebrow at my statement before typing something into his ... laptop? I think that's what it's called. Then he turned toward me, "Well, it's a small problem. We could fix this. You guys would be able to get your new schedule before 6.45."
I turned my lips and gave him a smile, "That's great. Thanks." I said before rising up from the chair, wanting to leave this guy as fast as possible, "If there's nothing else, I'll be off."
Without waiting for his response, I turned around and when I'm about to reach for the door handle, I heard him asking, "What were you five doing outside of curfew yesterday?"
I froze. I turned around and stared back at the already standing-up Brayden. I placed one of my hands behind me and recited a spell non-verbally, ready to blast this prince into oblivion. I smiled at him, "I have no idea what you're talking about, your highness."
Brayden tilted his head and chuckled, "Oh, please. I could see you five running around from this window." He pointed at the window behind his chair. He placed an arm on top of his chair and leaned on it, "Now, tell me. What were you doing?"
Thank goodness, that means he didn't actually know that we were going to steal the wand. I dispersed the magic that was on my hand and smiled brightly at him, "Well, we were having our ... midnight run. We did that every day. To build up good stamina, you see."
He raised both of his eyebrows and looked at me skeptically. I didn't like being challenged so I stared back at him with an equally intense stare. Then, he shot me a formal smile and walked forward to open the door for me, "If that's the case, I'll let you guys off. I won't let you guys off if it happened another time."
"How kind of you, your highness," I uttered, controlling myself to not roll my eyes.
"Please, call me Ayden." He smiled before leaning in next to my ear and whispered, "Just a warning, if any five of you did something that would threaten Auradon, let's just say you would get more than just getting sent back to the Isle."
My guess was right. I looked up at him as my gaze gradually hardened. I gave him the falsest smile I could muster and replied, "Note taken Ayden. And while you're here, give this back to Doug, will you?"
