"Here's a roasted chicken sandwich; no tomatoes, don't worry. Carlos got you some chocolate muffins just in case you're hungry later. And I got you hot honey tea. I heard that's good for sick people." Jay informed me as he placed the items he mentioned on my bedside table.

I looked at my worried cousin and started chuckling. Jay glanced at me questioningly, "What?"

"Nothing, but you know, it's funny seeing you all nervous and stuff." I giggled and took a bite of the warm muffin.

Jay rolled his eyes and flickered my forehead, "Ha ha. Hilarious." Then he sighed and stared into my eyes in a serious manner, "But what exactly happened yesterday?"

"What? I thought Mal and Evie already told you about it."

"I mean the details." Jay rolled his eyes at me.

I placed down the pastry and shrugged, "I don't know, Jay. I mean, it all happened in a blur and all I could recall was that there was a voice inside my head. But Vasper said it's because of the alter ego I had and he told me to tell my mother about it."

"Wait, who's Vasper?"

"That would be me."

"AH!" Jay screamed in fright, either from the sudden appearance of a snake in my room or the fact that the snake could talk, maybe both. "Am I having illusions or something?"

"Calm down. Jay, this is Vasper, an old friend of my Dad. Vas, this is Jay, my cousin." I introduced them to each other.

Vasper tsked as he looked at Jay up to down and nodded approvingly, "The good genes of the family do run well, I see."

"Thank you? Nice meeting you too, I guess." Jay smiled fearfully and held up his hand to say hi, "Well, since there's, uh, someone taking care of you. Maybe I should go?"

"Run along, cousin. You are half an hour late to class." I stated after looking at the clock hanging on the wall.

Jay cursed under his breath and waved me goodbye before leaving my room and Vasper turned to me with his purple slit-like pupils, "So, can I have that food called a muffin?"

☐ ☐ ☐ ☐ ☐

After Vasper and I had our breakfast, I didn't know that snakes could eat human food, but then again, he's not a real snake, I immediately used the spell to connect my mother, and this time, I didn't look at the spellbook.

When the same mirror appeared, my mother was livid, "What are you doing? I told you to only use this spell once a week and now you're using it twice this week? Are you crazy?"

"Whoa, hold up, Sira. Your daughter has something to tell you." Vasper stepped in and stopped my mother from reprimanding me.

My mother let out a deep breath and said calmly, "What do you have to tell me?"

I told her about what happened yesterday and my mother went quiet for a long moment after hearing my story. "Uh, Mom?"

Then, she sighed, "I should've told you this before you left the Isle. But listen my viper, what Vasper said is true. Every natural sorcerer and sorceress has an alternative side of them deep inside their mind and it's mostly evil. It only appears when the host couldn't control their powers well and has overly strong emotions. Most of them were killed by their counterpart and the latter took over the body later on. Creating chaos, killing lives, and the sort. Tell me, do you feel an immense amount of rage or sadness yesterday, honey?"

"No, but I do feel very vexed and pissed off by the fact all of our plans to get the wand didn't work." I fidgeted my fingers as I answer my mother.

My mother breathed out, "Listen, sweetie, you don't need to feel burdened by the mission. If you get the wand, great job. If you didn't, it's okay. Do you get it?"
