Unexpected Emergency

MIDORIYA'S POV

"It's a nice place, Deku!" Uraraka cheered happily as she looked around the house for the fifth time. "Not bad for a rental."

"I would love a place a little further away from the city. We have a decent backyard now, and the kids have some room, but I would love for them to have more," Iida added. "It would also be nice for them not to hear our neighbors spewing profanities every other second."

Uraraka thought about it before responding. "We could sell our home and move, you know? I think I would prefer a peaceful place like this."

It is nice to be away from the city. I don't have to hear people yelling outside at all hours of the night. Daiki is definitely safer here than he is anywhere in the city. My closest neighbor is about half a mile away. They're not incredibly far, but far enough that we have our privacy here.

"We should all buy a big plot of land one day and build connecting houses." Todoroki chuckled. "Since we're constantly deciding whose house to go between, it would make life easier."

Iida looked at him in confusion. "So, like an apartment complex?" he asked.

Todoroki shook his head. "No. We would all build houses close together and have them all connected by screened-in porches or something."

"Or we could build them in a square and have the center area be a big play area for the kids," I offered.

"We would need a huge plot of land to pull that off," Uraraka laughed. We would, but I wouldn't mind if we all lived closer together. If one of us had an emergency for work or got called in for any reason, we could just walk our kids across the yard to someone else. Finding four houses by each other would be a challenge. We would have to build if we ever wanted to live near each other.

"I'll keep my eyes open for a bit plot of land." Iida shook his head in amusement. Even if this conversation was mainly a joke, I guarantee it will be brought up again if one of us does happen to find some land that would be good for it.

Our conversation died out when a quiet knock echoed from the front door.

"Were you expecting anyone else?" Uraraka asked. Nobody else knew I lived here now besides my mom and Itsuka.

I shook my head before walking over to the front door. Another soft knock echoed before I looked through the peephole, but I didn't see anybody. There was a knock less than four seconds ago.

Please don't tell me I just moved into a haunted house.

I activated my quirk before opening the door slowly and cautiously. My heart skipped a beat when I saw a mop of green curls. I pulled the door open quickly and dropped to my knees.

"Daiki?" I asked urgently while reaching out and grabbing his arms.

He looked at me with tear-stained cheeks. "D-Daddy?" He choked out. I pulled him into my chest. No parent ever wants to open their front door to find their child crying.

"Buddy, why are you here? How did you get here? Where's mommy?" At this point, everyone else had walked to the front door to see what was happening.

"She dropped off and told to go inside," he cried while wrapping his arms around me. I pulled away from the hug but kept a firm grip on his arms.

"She didn't walk you up?" What the hell is she thinking? Not only do I have to patrol in two hours, but to not walk him up to the house and drive away before he even made it inside? She can be mad at me all she wants, but our son's safety should always be her first priority.
