BAKUGO'S POV

My back hit the cold cement. I felt the air leave my lungs momentarily, but I don't have the time to catch my breath. I sprang back up quickly.

"Dynamight! Are you okay?" Shitty Hair asked loudly as he landed next to me.

Not really, but that's part of the job. I know I'm going to have bruises covering my back after today. "Where is he?" I looked around the area, trying to find the villain that just threw me into the ground.

"Right above us," he replied before springing into action. I watched the villain's right hand rise into the air. His eyes locked on an adult with three terrified children hiding behind her legs. I know I can get to them in time, but I don't think I can take the hit. Can I move all four of them in time?

Fuck it. Risking my life is also part of the job.

I ran for the small family as the villain used his quirk to send an air current toward them. Air manipulation may not sound like a dangerous quirk, but it sliced through a taxi only two minutes ago.

I landed behind them and scooped two children into my arms. I shoved them over a few feet, causing them to fall to the ground. I didn't necessarily throw them, but I wasn't gentle either. It was better than them being cut in half.

I grabbed the last child and adult before running toward the other two. "Get out of here, now!" I yelled.

"We got them!" A voice yelled from behind me. I turned around to see Glasses running toward me. Half and Half was right behind him.

I didn't bother to say thanks before turning around to help Shitty Hair. My eyes widened when I felt the air shift around me. My eyes frantically scanned the area. Where is it coming from? Where is it going?

It felt as if someone had punched me in the side before my back was on the ground once more. My eyes squeezed shut during the impact. I was surprised and confused as fuck when I saw emerald green eyes staring into mine.

"Kacchan, are you okay?" Deku asked frantically. My eyes focused on the hole in the road right behind where I was standing. The attack came right for me, and Deku saved my life. Again.

I pushed him away from me and quickly located Shitty Hair. He was still fighting the villain. Glasses and Half and Half were still evacuating.

A lady was running down the street, clutching her bloody hand to her chest. "Cellophane and I will help the injured. You help Red Riot." He pushed himself to his feet before taking off with his quirk fully charged.

"Don't fucking tell me what to do," I groaned before standing up.

Rage flowed through my veins. Not because I've been thrown to the ground twice but because I had to be saved by the shitty nerd. I'm fucking tired of him always being here. Every time I turn my head, he's right fucking there.

"Dynamight!" Shitty Hair yelled loudly from behind me. The villain was now floating directly above me. I jumped up and fired my quirk up. This has already taken us way too fucking long. I felt the air shift around me, but I didn't try to figure out what was happening. Other heroes are treating the injured and evacuating. My only job right now was to take this guy down without anyone getting injured.

I used my quirk to shoot up from the ground. The villain smirked at me before raising his hand. I kept my eyes locked on him. It could hurt someone below me if I move to dodge an attack right now. If I don't dodge, his attack could cut me in half. Bigger explosions came from my hands at a faster pace. I'm not escaping this.

Before he could get a clean attack off, I was directly in front of him. His eyes widened when my fist raised above his head. A sharp pain shot through my stomach, but I didn't have the time to look down. I was still alive, which was the only thing that mattered right now.

With my quirk exploding at full charge, I brought my fist down on his head. With the way I hit him, it won't kill him. It might give him a concussion, but that's the least of my worries.

While he was hurdling to the ground, I looked for Shitty Hair. He was already running to the villain. I always tried to get villains on the ground. Shitty Hair was at a disadvantage if they weren't. Like most people, he didn't have a quirk to help him get in the air. Not everyone could float, but they could usually launch themselves into the air somehow.

"Got him!" Kirishima yelled while reaching for a pair of quirk-canceling cuffs from his belt. Since the cops couldn't always get here when we needed them, all heroes carry at least one pair now. It's the smarter thing to do, anyway. "Dynamight, come on down!"

With the help of my quirk, I slowly lowered myself to the ground. My knees buckled when my feet hit the cement. I fell to my knees, clutching my abdomen. Shitty Hair had this from here. I could take a minute to breathe now.

After a minute or two, I get to my feet. Shitty Hair was talking to the police after handing over the villain. Deku and Soy Sauce were still tending to the wounded. Looking around to make sure everything was actually under control, I finally took a step forward. As I did, my vision became blurry, and I stumbled. The next second I saw those damn emerald eyes again and heard him yell, "Kacchan!" No, not you, was all I could think. His hands reached out and caught me as I was swallowed by darkness.

My eyes fluttered open. I don't know how long I was out or where I was. Looking around, I took in the hospital room where I lay. There in the fucking doorway, he stood talking to a nurse. "That's good news, thank you." That damn nerd said as he turned around and walked over to me. Giving him a death glare, I silently hoped he got the message to leave. He didn't. Instead, he sat on the edge of my bed, flashed that stupid smile of his that, for some reason, made my heart ache and pissed me off at the same time, and then started talking to me. "Kacchan, you scared me. You were hurt pretty bad, but the nurse said they fixed you up. You lost a lot of blood due to the gash across your stomach. You have two broken ribs, but nothing was punctured. I guess that isn't anything new." Was rambled out as he took in a shaky breath. He was right, though; I have had broken ribs before. "The nurse said they want to keep you for a day or two, or at least overnight. How are you feeling?"

Is he seriously asking me that right now? I closed my eyes, hoped this was a bad dream, and opened them again. Nope, he is still there. I took a breath in through my nose and held it for a few seconds. Fuck, that hurts. I slowly let the breath back out. "What the fuck do you think, Nerd? I feel like shit like someone slammed me into the ground repeatedly. Oh, wait, they did." Then I used all the strength I had in my leg to push him off my bed.

He yelped as he hit the floor. "Kacchan, you could have told me to move."

Giving him a smirk. "What fucking fun would that be?"

He dusted off his ass as he stood up. I don't know why the floor is dirty. "That hurt, you jerk. I can see you are feeling fine. I'll let the nurse know you are awake on my way out." He headed for the door but then stopped short and turned around. I could see the hurt in his eyes. I hate that look.. but whatever. "Kirishima said to let you know he and the guys would be by later." With that, he turned and headed out the door.

The nurse came in about five minutes after Deku left. She must be the one he talked to. "You are awake. Here take this and then get some rest." I took the pills from her hand. "Here is some water."

Placing the pills in my mouth, and grabbing the cup, I took the meds before saying. "I don't want any more visitors today."

"Very well," she replied with a smile before leaving me alone with my thoughts. Uninvited into my day. The villain, Deku, and the extras were all uninvited. I didn't ask them to drop themselves into my day.
