"I cannot believe I waited too long to reply to my dates so they all found other dates! This is ridiculous I'm my only friend who's gonna show up with no date!" Maddie complained to Callie who had taken the day and night off work so she could chaperone for the school dance and help Maddie get ready. "Maddie it's fine! I never had a date to any of these things.""You never even went to any of these things! And also I'm trying to have fun, like you told me too. What do you expect me to do when all my friend are slow dancing with their partners and I'm just sitting in the corner on my own like and idiot."
"You find someone else to dance with then!"Callie laughed at how stressed her little sister was about something as silly as a school dance. "Well you're going to look even cuter than usual when I'm done with you, so I'm sure someone will come over and ask you to dance."
"You think?" Maddie asked the girl who shook her head. "No, I know someone will.""Thanks Callie." Maddie smiled before her sister rushed her over to a box with a letter on it. "Open it then." Callie urged her and Maddie giggled and did as she was told.
Dear Maddie,
We're so sorry that we can't be there for your first ever spring fling, or as we've heard it's now called a spring-a-ding-fling, we wish we could be there and we know that this isn't good enough but I promise we will be home soon and in the meantime me and your father thought you would enjoy these gifts for the dance. We love you lots and hope you have a wonderful time!
Lots of love Mom and Dad xxx
P.S: tell Callie to take lots of pictures"Aww this is so sweet!" Maddie smiled and began opening the large box to reveal inside there was tones of different dresses for her to try on all with a matching pair of shoes, bag and necklace. "Oh my god!" Maddie giggled as Callie smiled back at her. "Let's have a fashion show."
"Good idea." Maddie said and she grabbed the box and ran into the room down the hall. She tried on all the different dresses and posed in them as music, mainly ABBA, played in the background. She decided to go with a white, silky, just above knee-length dress dotted with pink flowers.
Then Callie did Maddie's makeup and curled her hair. "So why can't you just take Luke or Manny or something?"
"Because I don't like them like that, pretty sure they both have dates now." Maddie sighed. "Well Alex said that Luke kept going on about you having like 200 options." Callie looked at the girl who giggled. "It was 8 actually, and I rejected 2 on the spot because they were as-awful people." Maddie nodded as her sister raised a brow. "Nice save."
Maddie rolled her eyes before looking at herself in the mirror and a smile made its way onto her face. "Do you like it?" Callie asked the girl who was now admiring herself in the mirror.
"Like it? I love it! I look so pretty! Thank you so much Callie." Maddie hugged her sister tightly and she instantly wrapped her arms around her too. "Now come on let's take a picture before mum and dad text me again asking how you look." Callie giggled as Maddie let go of her.
"Say cheese!""Cheese!" Maddie said displaying her pearly whites to the camera. "Perfect, now let's go!"

"Oh my god you look so cute!" Alice hugged her best friend and span her round and they both laughed as they complimented each other. Then Alice took Maddie over to the food table that the rest of her friends were standing around getting food. "So Maddie I know you don't have a date but who do you think you'd dance with if you had too?" Rihanna asked her and the girl shrugged.
