(A/n: I know the name of the chapter sounds weird, it'll make sense at the end)

"Seriously, again?" Luke looked at the girl at the door who had dilated pupils and could barely stand up. She was wearing a tight, dark dress and quite a lot of eyeshadow and eyeliner. "Sorry." Maddie almost pouted as she looked at Luke. "Can I come in? It's freezing." She slurred slightly and Luke nodded as he reached out to help her inside.  "Come on."

"Why's it so dark in here?" The brunette asked and Luke sighed. "My dad forgot to meet the electrician today to fix the faulty junction box." Luke informed the girl who just nodded with a groan. "I need to uh to sit...down." Maddie pointed at where she thought the closest stool was and Luke nodded as he walked her to the barstool. "Thank you." She nodded before resting her head on the table and both Haley and Alex frowned.

"Is that Maddie?" Alex questioned and Luke piped up as Alex began lighting all the candles they found. "Yep." "Why does she sound so drunk?" Haley asked and Luke raised an eyebrow. "Probably cause she is. You can also smell cheap alcohol if you get close enough."

"Where is she now? I can barely see anything, it's so dark in here." Haley sighed frustratedly as Alex lit the last candle. "She's sitting two barstools away from you resting her head on the table." Luke gestured towards the girl and Haley leaned towards Maddie. "She smells like a high school party. Memories."

Maddie's eyes fluttered open when Luke gently shook her awake. "Maddie. Mads." Maddie let out a groan as she lifted her head up and squinted at the bright lights. "Oh it's light now and why'd you call me Mads?"

"My mom called a guy and he fixed the electric thingy, and everyone else calls you Mads so..." Luke trailed off with a shrug and Maddie groaned. "Oh okay, just call me Maddie. I hate the nickname Mads."

"Oh, then why do all your friends call you Mads?" Luke questioned curiously and Maddie shrugged. "I don't know, nor care. Can I crash here tonight? I'm so tired." Maddie attempted to stand up but wobbled as she did so.

"Okay." Luke caught Maddie before she could fall over and hurt herself. "Yeah, you can stay here. Come on, you can sleep in my bed, I'll sleep on the floor." Claire and Phil used to be totally comfortable with Maddie and Luke sharing a bed because they were only 15, now they were 16 and 17 it was a bit different.

"Are you sure?" Maddie questioned and Luke nodded as they tried to walk, however Maddie kept tripping. "Yeah, it's fine." Luke reassured the girl before picking her up unexpectedly, making Maddie let out a squeal of surprise, as Luke carried her up the stairs.

The next morning, Maddie woke up with a splitting headache wearing the same clothes and makeup as she was wearing last night. She was in Luke's bed and she frowned before looking down and seeing Luke still asleep on the floor.

Later, that morning she borrowed some of Haley's clothes (which fitted surprisingly well), makeup and her hair brush to make herself look a bit more presentable before she left for school with Luke.

"Calm down. We only cut two classes, and I'll send an excuse email from your mom's computer." Luke spoke to Manny as the three walked into Manny's house. "I can't believe I agreed to ditch with you just cause you gave me half your Brie sandwich. Although, that
party-crashing apple slice turned out to be a welcome plus-one."

"So we can make it official now, I have three gay uncles." Luke commented as Manny rolled his eyes. "Why'd you agree to ditch?" Manny turned to Maddie who sighed. "I have such a bad hangover."
