"That's absolutely revolting." SEASON 5- PART 6

Maddie had felt so much happier since she and Jaden had broken up. She had also been spending more time with Luke and his family since her parents were still on a business trip and her sisters hours had extended to the point where she'd leave at 6:30am and come back at 11:30pm.

"Okay, everybody. Cake time!" Phil said excitedly as Claire brought in Alex's large sweet 16th cake. "Thank God I really have to study." Alex tucked her hair behind her ears as Maddie looked at the cake in awe.

"Oh, sweetheart, can't you just take a minute to enjoy it? It's your birthday. You put to much pressure on yourself." Claire rubbed her hand on Alex's shoulder as she rolled her eyes. "I remember my sweet 16th. I wanted a theme party. 'Moonstruck' had just come out, but I hadn't so I was-"

"No stories, no time. S.A.T.S" Alex cut off Cam and Maddie pulled out her phone and began videoing as everyone began singing. "Do you need to video everything?" Luke whispered to the girl who responded with a simple shhhh.

"Wait, wait we all know why we're here." Alex stopped everyone and blew out her candles but missed the number 1 candle. "Ay, honey, you missed one-"

"I know!" Alex screamed as Gloria flinched slightly. "I know I missed one! I'm not an idiot!" Alex grabbed her brining candle and stuck it into the cake angrily. "There! Happy!"

"Whoa you're being a little..." Her sister began before Alex started listing words that were apparently describing her right now, but nobody really knew because they were such odd words. "I was gonna say cray-cray." Haley mumbled as Claire attempted to calm Alex down.

"I really need to focus! There is a 16 year old Science Prodigy Studying Cancer research at Johns Hopkins! 16! What am I doing? I'm eating cake!" Alex screeched as she began shoving handfuls of cake into her mouth and just screaming cake repeatedly. Maddie slowly lowered her phone and stopped recording as Luke smiled. "Hey can you-"

"No I will not send it to you." Maddie groaned as Luke scoffed. "I was only gonna ask if you could umm tell me where you buy your shampoo. A friend of mine wants to know."

"Real smooth Dunphy." Maddie rolled her eyes as Alex ran out of the room and everyone soon made their way to the living room. "Hey sweetie."

"Hi Claire, do you know if Alex is okay?" She asked as she sat across from the blonde who shrugged. "I don't know, she put's so much pressure on herself sometimes it does worry me."

"She sort of reminds me of my sister when she was in high school actually and everything turned out good for her." Maddie attempted to comfort Claire who smiled. "Speaking of Callie, what's she up to tonight?"

"I think she's sleeping round her new boyfriend's apartment tonight." Maddie smiled as Claire's eyes softened. "You know, why don't you sleep round our house tonight?" She asked the brunette who shook her head. "Thank you but is alright Claire, I'll be fine."

"No I insist, must be boring having a big house to yourself all the time. Also tomorrow is my homemade Pancakes for breakfast." Claire attempted to persuade the girl. Truth be told she felt bad for the girl, her parents were practically never home and her sister was either at work or at her boyfriend's usually now. When they were all together of course it was different and they loved Maddie as much as she loved them, but Claire could tell that even though Maddie acted as if it didn't bother her it definitely was starting too. And she cared about the girl, she really did so dropping her off in that big house all alone just felt wrong.

"Well how can I turn down your homemade pancakes, you know they're my favourite." Maddie giggled as Claire thanked her.
